 I used cryo ammo in ME2 all the time, mostly as a squad power for cc or with a shot gun for husk.
I tend to evolve Inferno ammo for the panic effect. . . so my 1st time playing as a soldier for ME3 demo I did the same thing.
Used inferno to blaze enemies so I played the 3rd time went cryo with only one pt. for the hell of it . . .put it on the SMG and Shotty and hole crap . . . lets just say I have a new favorite ammo now. . . it slows the enemies down, freezes them quicker then the  SMG did in ME2 . . . next on to play my Infiltrator run and will evolve it more to see the results. . .
