The mode is very much basic, will probably be slightly less so in the final game when there are more maps and we aren't just facing Cerberus, but even that it probably will still be basic.

The mode isn't what makes it fun and makes it last though, that's the gameplay, an that has a whole lot of variety dependent on what class you are and what class your teammates are.

This.

I've had several runs with at least 4 other players with mics and it's ridiculously addictive. My combined level is about 59 at this point.

There's nothing basic about kills by Biotic Explosion.... plus there's no zomomombies.

Irrespecitive of calling it basic, it's well crafted, thought out well, and integrates the ME biotics and tech powers in a way that dovetails nicely with both the environment and the enemies - Throwing Cerberus troopers off Noveria landing pad never gets old.

The only issues I found on the PS3 version were a slight pause on wave announcements but actually fighting was great, an absolutely brilliant time if you get a good team together.

6 or so months ago people were horrified at the announcement of Multiplayer.. and now they want MORE.

Sad, but true. Bet BW is loving that.

We still havn't seen the effects on single player yet. The complaint against multiplayer was many and not unified, and no one hated multiplayer just for the sake of multiplayer, it was the implications behind it.

For those that want coop have it.
For those that don't like it just don't play it.
Its there for people who want more replay value out of the game aside from the actual campaign.
Its really simple logic really, why play something you don't like if you're not enjoying it? Plan of action?
Just don't play it

This is so lame! Whilst ye complains, I sit here waiting for the 17th!!! All I can do is play the 3minute singleplayer mode! Be thankful!
And anything Horde-like is awesome! It sure beats facing-off with actual "intelligent" players!

Love the use of quotes too.

The great thing about coop play is that computer enemies are designed to be challenging without being dirty little jerks that do nothing but spam exploits and ruin the game.

Even on bronze, there is enough enemies for everyone, there is zero chance of getting annoyed because of what the game does.

I do love that. My friends and I were talking about it and we came to the conclusion that PvP in ME3 multiplayer would just ruin the whole experience. It'd be nothing but people rolling all over the place trying to Melee eachother.

I also really like that a round of ME3 MP is sort of like a ton of modes all rolled into one. You have a King of the Hill type thing where you defend a single point. Multiple targets that force your squad to move around the map...

It's all very fun.

A bit of pinnacle station but finally with multiplayer. Thank goodness it is so unbostrusive so everyone can enjoy some co-op. Learning curve is flat enough to get into it within an hour, and not needing a degree in wallbouncing. Yay.

i just played my first two matches and i think there is something missing. im not expecting it to be anything more then horde mode s im not dissapointed at all. it fiils a really unique roll in my ME experience. main thing for me was i think its just short. i really dont see whats to complain about the whole thing tho. its one of the reasons but not the complete reason to get ME3.

in two matches im a level 7 and im destroying fools like no other. prolly cuz im awesome with biotics. holla

That's true enough... there were many different arguements against it but I won't deny that was probably the main one.  But it looks like they've listened to A LOT of fan feedback so far, so I'm not too worried on the matter.

I agree, difference between mass effect 3 coop mode and GoW's horde is minimal. This makes me think, that i play the same game that i already played 3 years ago. But the main problem that there is 2012 year now, not 2008. Today i can play horde 2.0 that much-much better than this. ME3Coop mode had could better if it have a some unique features. No-no, i don't mean this "galaxy at something" system (even now i am not fully understand what is this). I mean features that directly affect on multiplayer gameplay.Of course, even in this state coop of me3 is cool and fun, but not for long time. Eventually i will drop it and return to horde. Just because there is no new game experience for me.

Sorry for my english.

And it's a lot of fun. I've got news for you. All the top MP games are very basic. MP is basic. It's not the giant zot sink all the SP babies make it out to be. And paying full price for an MP game such as MW3 or BF3 is a rip off.

Of course its basic. Thats why its fun. Games don't need to be complex to be fun (see: Tetris).

I love Horde in Gears, and the 2.0 is awesome...but I think this ME3 MP is better.  Its balanced very well to feel satisfying and fun but also challenging.  The powers are just so much fun.  And the enemy AI is suprisingly good...way better than the AI in Horde 2.0.  The Engineers and Phantoms, especially, are really good enemies that are pretty unique.  And we've only seen 1 faction.  Can't wait to fight Geth or Collectors.

Play for longer, friend. Bronze challenges are easy comparitively to Silver, which I did get into one by accident and died prompty.

All and all. Basic or not, it hits the nail on the head. This is exactly what I was hoping for, and I do hope Bioware is encourage to continue the Mass Effect franchise with perhaps even more in depth multiplayer missions either as DLC or as stand alone games. I'd buy either.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I unlocked him, painted his armor purple, and called him Barney just for giggles....and sure enough, Barney and I were giggling all the way to the Extraction Point. XD

Seriously though, I hope they do a Left-4-Dead type mode where the map is more linear and objective based, instead of running around in circles looking for people to kill. You wouldn't have to change much either. The horde mode already has objectives (destroy vital equipment, eliminate targets, etc), so i would just randomize it and put it along a somewhat linear path to keep players on their toes. Make it so that you have to get to point A then point B, with temporary safehouses along the way for ammo and health (to function as checkpoints or areas where the waves would end). The idea is once you get to point C, you complete the objective and then go to Point D or E to extract, and then use the "Extraction Point" as a strong wave.

I would certainly like to see more (as long as it's PVE focused; there are enough PVP shooters, and a multiplayer ME that really focuses and works and refines on the PVE would stand out), but this is an excellent, solid start. While I wasn't worried about it taking away from single player (since it was supposedly developed by some other group last I heard?) I certainly was expecting to try it once or twice and never pick it up again.

I was happily wrong.

I always thought the multiplayer would be good, but I never expected it to be addicting. I mean, it may be simple, but it just works. The maps are good, the visuals are amazing, the gameplay is better than ever, it ties with the story...
This game has officially patched up the hole that Halo Reach had burned in my Xbox (multiplayer wise)
