So based on what ive seen today this seems to be the enemy people are complaining about the most. First off I will say if you aren't in a team of 4 or if your team isnt working together right you'll probably fail since phantoms come late in rounds and normally have guardians and other nemies surrounding her.

First off the Phantoms

Image IPB

Beautiful aint she? Anyway, She is designed as a Cover Take/Buster and Slow pressure enemy

~ She takes cover
~ When here health is low she will cloak and try to run away to regenerate
~ If you're in cover she will drop your shields and assassinate you.
~ She also can dodge bullets by cartwheeling and catch biotic attacks.. occasionally
~ The pressure part is when she skips towards you

So how do you beat her? First off unless you're an Adept with stasis you have to work together.  Simply keep her at a distance and slowly drop her barrier. Once you do that unload on her with pull/throw/singularity.These powers keep her at bay. Just keep track of her and keep her under control or she'll sneak up on you.

Quick ways to beat her.
~ Use Stasis then just light her up
~ Close the distance on her with your teammates and rush her. Shooter her up
~ Keep her at mid distance and then use singularity to throw her around.

Here is a vid i just uploaded with me as an Asari Adept. I killed 2 phantoms in this video.

If this thread continues to go on i'll add tips for other enemies

Good post and you make a lot of good posts. Usually on bronze and silver I can solo her if it is only me and her in a room and the rest of my team is busy if I simply charge her and punch her before she can react and recover.

As an engineer I don't struggle that much with any of the elite mobs. However she does hit hard if she gets the drop on you =)

Infiltrators: throw non-targeted sticky grenades on the ground in front of you. She'll stop advancing for a little bit then move right into it. If you spec grenades for damage, you can easily finish her off with a few pistol or shotgun rounds. That said, try not to solo her. Instead, run to your nearest teammate whenever possible (especially on higher difficulties).

I should note that I was one hit killed without the ability to be revived by the phantom when I was killed by her sword.

If you play a human vanguard, your strategy for basically anything other than an Atlas is as follows:

1: Charge
2: Nova
3: Shotgun

Repeat as needed.

Vanguards are awesome.

Actually this works quite well.  With enough force you can stagger Phantoms if they get too close for the easy kill. Well maybe not so much Nova.

If your playing a Krogan soldier its alot simpler

1:Melee

Krogans are awesomer:)

NOVA is too risky for me

Pretty much this. I love juggling Phantoms; makes me feel less bad about charge suicides.

Nice vid. The wave at the extraction zone looked pretty hairy.

Yup, as an engineer you have two very powerful tools for stopping phantoms. The combat drone will take agro and allow you to distance yourself from the phantom. Overload will quickly drop the phantom's barrier, allowing you to kill it quickly with bullets or incinerate.

I play as adept, Asari. I just slap them with a stasis, then unload on them. It works real well. If all I can do is get there shields down, then I just hit them with throw. That usually finishes the job.

To expand on this...yes, this works as well, because Krogan Heavy melee will actually STAGGER a Phantom, making it easier for follow-up attacks.

I'm a big fan of letting her get close, then Nova -> Charge -> Nova. A lot of the time you don't even need the shotgun.

I'm a level 19 Human engineer.
Maxed overload. Keep spamming it on her since she cannot dodge it and it will stagger her.

If you have the range advantage on her deploy a drone otherwise just spam overload to stagger.

Don't bother with incinerate 90% of the time she will just cartwheel out of it.

And do stay away from her. She has a grapple that will instantly kill you without chance of being revived.

Could just be for some kind of augmented reality in her helmet.

She can counter attack a vanguard charge. So it's not that simple.
.
In silver, with two shots she leaves you with 1 hp.

General tactic: snipe their heads off, easy as that.

As someone who does it regularly, it pretty much is that simple. The counter attack is very rare in my experience, it's mostly just a non-issue.

So, how about spamming cryoblast and headshots? Seems like that would work. (it did on bronze)
