having played an Asari Adept now, i have to say that Stasis is much better than Overload for Phantoms. And tbh for everything else short of Atlas.

If you play a human vanguard, your strategy for basically anything other than an Atlas is as follows:

1: Charge
2: Nova
3: Shotgun

Repeat as needed.

Vanguards are awesome.

With my build the barriers get fully recharged and by the time my Nova is done I can Charge again. My strategy is this:

1) Nova
2) Nova*
3) Charge
4) Nova
5) Nova*
6)Charge again
7) if anything is still left alive, Nova again.
8) And Nova again*

* if you have the ability that gives a 25% chance of Nova not using barriers, you have a 1 in 4 chance that one of those steps can be used.

As an Asari Adept:

Step 1: Stasis

Step 2: Gangbang her with all your friends, aim your loads at her face for maximum trauma

why bring friends? status + carnifex. 3 shots on bronze, 4 on silver.

Because gangrape is more traumatizing than the regular variety?

Pierce is generally better. I have my vanguard spec'd to barrier^(for fitness), damage (I chose half blast which was stupid, I should of chosen power recharge) and force.

I just BC -> nova -> BC -> nova -> rinse and repeat, there's pretty much no gap in my spamming with the base 200% CD reduction. On gold I tank everything easily except for turrets because well... they're OP.

So based on what ive seen today this seems to be the enemy people are complaining about the most. First off I will say if you aren't in a team of 4 or if your team isnt working together right you'll probably fail since phantoms come late in rounds and normally have guardians and other nemies surrounding her.

First off the Phantoms

Image IPB

Beautiful aint she? Anyway, She is designed as a Cover Take/Buster and Slow pressure enemy

~ She takes cover
~ When here health is low she will cloak and try to run away to regenerate
~ If you're in cover she will drop your shields and assassinate you.
~ She also can dodge bullets by cartwheeling and catch biotic attacks.. occasionally
~ The pressure part is when she skips towards you

So how do you beat her? First off unless you're an Adept with stasis you have to work together.  Simply keep her at a distance and slowly drop her barrier. Once you do that unload on her with pull/throw/singularity.These powers keep her at bay. Just keep track of her and keep her under control or she'll sneak up on you.

Quick ways to beat her.
~ Use Stasis then just light her up
~ Close the distance on her with your teammates and rush her. Shooter her up
~ Keep her at mid distance and then use singularity to throw her around.

Here is a vid i just uploaded with me as an Asari Adept. I killed 2 phantoms in this video.

If this thread continues to go on i'll add tips for other enemies

I have succesfully soloed alot of rounds and its not very difficult to deal with most of the enemeis once you learn how. The key to beating Phantoms is KEEPING TRACK OF THEM. What really gets you is when they sneak up behind, drop your shields, then instakill you. If shes behind cover healing and won't get out I'll snipe her, usually getting a kill (If I use my Mantis) even at full barriers and health. If shes coming after me I whip out my pistol and start pegging her while backing up and fire Warp at her to drop her Barrier. Both of these work great, considering she doesn't sneak up behind me..

On a related note, Atlases are not difficult to take down for the most part either. Just spam a fast firing weapon and Overload at its cockpit till the shiels drop then shoot your Sniper or Pistol at its cockpit and spam Warp to kill it.

As an Infiltrator my strategy is:

Cloak

Headshot

Repeat until you have a headless Phantom

Alternative strategy:

Stasis + Widow = Easy mode, even on Silver and Gold

As a Soldier, pop adrenaline rush and she'll drop pretty quick if you combine it with a concussive shot to stagger her after barrier drops. As a Krogan Soldier? Hold F and ROFL as she gets sent sailing into a nearby wall xD

Yep, you don't even need the adrenaline rush, just spam concusion shot and keep shooting her. She will go down pretty fast. Soldier.. the best class in the game.

Yup, as an engineer you have two very powerful tools for stopping phantoms. The combat drone will take agro and allow you to distance yourself from the phantom. Overload will quickly drop the phantom's barrier, allowing you to kill it quickly with bullets or incinerate.

This. Vanguards and anyone using a scoped rifle can one shot her after her barrier is down, but if my engineer gets caught alone with one the above technique works very well.

Phantoms are easy on my infiltrator. I just cloak and apply massive trauma to the brain.

When she's pressuring me I just cloak and she ussually starts cartweelding away, if she doesn't I rush back with a cloaked melee attack.

My Infiltrator is build around massive sniper and melee damage, but leans heavely on the use of cloak. With my cloak on I can pretty much one shot everything except an atlas. xD

I can't speak of the other clases, but as a krogan soldier, it goes something like this:

Step 1: Apply forehead or pimpfist to Phantom.
Step 2: Repeat step 1.

A Turian sentinel can take down vanguards up to silver difficulty solo easy, haven't tried on gold yet. as long as Warp and overload are upgraded properly

Step 1:Use Overload BOOM Barrier is down or at 1 bar left. At this point she will atleast stop chasing you and start to stealth/retreat.
Step2:Use warp When she isn't stealthing or you have a clear shot
Step 3:Dance on corpse.

It should be noted that if you miss or you don't stagger her your probly gonna get an insta death.

i had one of my friends get pwned by a phantom after charging it lol

This can work if you are fast and have spent several skill points. Hoowever, it is really frustrating to Biotic Charge passed your target and end up more confused than the Phantom who is now giving you a Gaddafi with her katana.

unfortunately for me, as a Soldier, I generally backpedal and shoot her xP She's pretty vulnerable to frag grenades if you get her with it. Adrenaline Rush should help.

As for Phantoms, not that hard to deal with if you work as a team. Keep your distance and hammer away with Biotics and weapon fire. I've seen Phantoms melt under a 3 point cross fire of bullets and Biotics..
