Not asking which one people think is better, but I'm a bit confused as to how this is supposed to play out.

In ME 1, you can kill Wrex or let him live, common knowledge.  But, in ME 2, if you start a fresh new campaigne without anything important from ME 1, the base storyline implies that you killed Wrex in ME 1.  Now, starting a new campaigne in ME 3, the base storyline implies that you didn't kill Wrex.

...Wtf?

My only problem with this is that I want to use my imported character from ME 2 for ME 3, but tbh, I like Wrex a little bit more than Grunt (maybe..maybe not, Grunt has his moments) but from what I'm getting, i'd have to start from ME 1, let Wrex live, re-play through ME 2 after I just finished with it for a 2nd time, and then import my character into ME 3.

   Yeah..that's pretty much how I feel about that.

I'd play through ME1 again. Wrex is worth it.

Wrex would eat Grunt.

Grunt is the annoying kid in the bar looking for a fight.

Wrex is the middle-aged guy in the bar that no one is stupid enough to start a fight with.

>.> Well it ended up as a popularity contest anyway, with Wrex vastly winning the vote so far.
More than anything i'm just dumbfounded by this specific inconsistency between the base story lines of ME 1, 2, and 3.

Generally people who don't like Wrex are fools and we should eat them.

Wrex and Grunt have nothing to do with one another in the storyline. If you kill Wrex you get Wreave or what's his name instead.

Grunt and Wrex are involved in their own subplots of the game.

I don't even think they'll meet each other in ME3.

I prefer Wrex for one more reason. He isn't the Nth character voiced by Steven Blum. ;)

Grunt was okay, good to have at your side as a squaddie in ME2.

Wrex though is awesome, had a decent personality, I saved him in ME1 (my prime reason for getting my Charm skill up has high as possible before heading to virmere) just so he can come back in ME3.

Wrex FTW baby

The main problem with Grunt (in my opinion,) is that he's following in the footsteps of Wrex. Maybe that's why we don't have a permanent Krogan companion in Mass Effect 3. He wouldn't be able to keep up with what we've had in the past.

The base story in ME3 is probably still that Wrex is dead, he was just included in the demo to show off the level in its "base" state - just like Kirrahe.

I'm pretty confident most of the ME2 team, including Grunt is dead in the retail version if you don't import from ME2. The demo just happens to show Wrex, but I'm almost positive he's going to be dead in the full game without an import.

Canonizing often goes for the best possible outcome. Grunt represents the future of the Krogan. If he became an Urdnot it's likely that Wrex might want Grunt to be his heir. He did say "I guess that's what it takes to replace me."

It's more likely that he'll be alive if you didn't import. After all, the Bioware team wouldn't want to deny a player the full experience just because they don't have ME1 or ME2 to import from.

Who says we will not have a 'permanent krogran' companion?
Also WHY would they not have him as a companion in ME3? He was by far the coolest and funniest companion in ME1

I'm confused as to how you would come to this conclusion, seeing as we know relatively little about the "base storyline" in ME3, much less how the choices are programmed in the final product.

Grunt is perfect. (Unlike Miranda). Wrex isn't. Clear winner.............. Wrex.

Grunt FTW....love this guy!

I'm not too keen on Wrex...especially after seeing the way he acts in the ME3 demo. goofy!

Why?
If I remember well he can also be saved without even using renegade or charm.

Its also really hard to kill him! I tried to do a total fail run where everyone died and failed because I left unloyal grunt alone to hold the line and he lived and then kept me from dying!

Go play ME1. If you deny that he's better then you're a fool and we should eat you.

They didn't mind killing Wrex and the council on no import games of ME2.
