Hey guys. I just thought someone should make a thread like this since there's a few enemies in this demo that are actually hard to kill. Luckily, I got tactics on how to kill the Guardian, Nemesis, and the Centurion.

Lets start with the Guardian. First you want to hit the guy with either a shock wave or a throw. This is so you knock the shield out of the way of his face. While the shield is away from his face, snipe him in the head with the Mantis.

It should look like this: www.youtube.com/watch

Now for the Nemesis, you want to do something similar but in reverse. You want to Snipe her first with the Mantis then hit her with a throw right after. Usually this killes her immediately, You can also get lucky and kill her in the first headshot.

It looks like this: www.youtube.com/watch

For the Centurion, you can use exactly the same tactic you use for the Nemesis. There's also another way. You can snipe him in the head so you drop all his shields, then have a friend fire the killing headshot at the now shieldless Centurion.

It should look like this: www.youtube.com/watch

It should be noted that all 3 of these enemies will die instantly if you do this to them: www.youtube.com/watch

The Atlas dies in one shot from the Missile Launcher.

If anyone has any other tactics on how to kill bosses like the Phantom it would be nice to share it ;)

If you are using a Biotic ability then Sniping, its not exactly "insta-kill" now is it?

and fwiw...you dont even need a biotic for the Guardians, just snipe them through the slit in their shield for an actual insta-kill.

Alternatively: Warp + Shockwave on any centaurion and nemesis will strip the shields. Follow up with a singularity and you can head downtown.

Nemesis/Centurions are not hard to kill. I routinely kill them via Overload to take out their shield in full + stun then either unload full auto with an AR or Warp. Though this is just me talking as playing as a nerfed sentinel.

Guardians are also cakewalks as you can bait them into turning with Drones, pop them up with Singularity, or go for a mail slot Sniper kill.

The only enemies in the demo that have any remote difficulty to deal with, outside of Rockets, are Atlas mechs and Phantoms.

That is why I mentioned Rockets for the Atlas and Phantom. Thats the cheap way to do it though.

As for a legit way to do it, I'd say we do need guides brought up.

To be fair I've only encountered a Phantom once. Instead of cloaking and running away and trying for a headshot, I cloaked, ran towards her and tried for a melee kill. Not a good idea...

It's really just "Make do with what you have" though, as different classes can be played totally differently depending on weapon loadout. Mail-slotting Guardians works great if I'm not my Vanguard, and Nova -> Charge -> Nova is great to take down Phantoms until I'm literally anything other than an Infiltrator. We need a class specific guide for boss-type enemies.

True. I need to double check to see if I have any good Vanguard classes open and give them a spin.

I pretty much have hated all of the time I have put into playing my Turian Sentinel.

Engineers really good as well, Combat Drone, Incinerate, and Overload give it a really flexible loadout.

Does it really matter, if you're doing it right it kills them immediately. Not everyone has time to waste lining up a perfect shot through the slit in their shield even though that does work too.

I started this thread so people could put their tactics out there, not so people can try to 1-up me. I was just trying to help.

Engineer is a class I was considering too. I'm going to double check my vanguards though for any unlocks via the vet packs I bought.

I really enjoy insta-kills through the slot, but its true you don't always have the luxury to do it (if you can do it quick, great).

I was just playing with a krogan soldier and human engineer and I basically followed them around trying to get headshots.

I had so much fun killing atlas/phantom as salarian infiltrator.  cloak => mantis scope zoom in => energy drain => mantis body shot => dead phantom (bronze, silver requires mantis headshot).  for atlas, simply rinse and repeat.

Charge -> Headshot generally works fairly well, the stagger is pretty noticeable.

Phantoms go down pretty easy with shotgun blast and Krogan melee charge as long as you don't get hit by them plus it takes 2 shot from a phantom to kill my Krogan Soldier.

Phantoms are easily killed using Stasis Field it leaves them sitting ducks for snipe Headshots, or you can just biotic combo explode them which will ussualy take off most of their health and knock them down for an easy follow up. This tactic applies to any enemy that doesnt have armor, so it works on Nemesis, Centurions and Guardians as well. Using stasis field on Guardians will actually cause them to drop their shield completely, classes with Pull can pull the shield away also.

I find the EASIEST insta-kills for Guardians are... Well...

The grenades the soldier has. Drop one in behind them like you do on Halo to the Jackals... instant kill. They don't even try to defend against it. I routinely kill the "pairs" of them with a single grenade this way. Killing Centurians CAN be difficult... But if you take "extra headshot damage" and then shoot them with a rapid fire weapon in the head (they have a nasty tendancy to be stupid and stand still while taking millions of bullets to the brainpan). It makes pretty short work of them. As for the Phantoms... They can be an issue... They can instantly kill YOU as a human. Even with max health bonuses from Fitness. What's worse... That instant kill can keep you from using Medi-Gel to revive. They are absolutely EVIL in this regard. Easiest way I've found to deal with them is simply shooting at them. If you pelt them in the face with enough rounds, they dance around and don't try to chase you. Or they try to go invisible so they can escape. It makes it easier to kill them. You can use a biotic power or a grenade to drag them out of cover while they regen health...

As for Atlas Mechs... Rockets are best. However, if you find your entire squad does NOT have a rocket...

Well, hopefully someone brought armor piercing rounds and someone brought disrupter rounds. Disrupter the shields (doesn't take long with the Avenger on full auto to destroy the shielding... Just make sure you can keep retreating while you shoot it because if you can't, it'll pin you in a corner and you will die). Then the player with the Armor Piercing wastes the armor on it in about the same amount of time. Just get two teammates to keep the rear clear so you can keep moving and retreating while you kill it. Or, if you're only playing with a friend... One friend. The guy who DOESN'T have the rounds needed to kill it clears a path behind you guys while the other shoots it.

Those are my tactics and they're pretty effective. Made even more effective once you get on in levels and start maxing out powers.

Speaking of bosses I find the missile launcher very cheap when used to kill atlas mechs I mean come on one hit.

On Gold and Silver, you'll need those missiles. Atlases are literally lining up to kill you - none of this "one at a time" Bronze nonsense.

---

My preferred way to kill Phantoms is to cloak and hit them with a point-blank Claymore blast. Naturally, this does require the ability to use a Claymore. :innocent:

Tip for taking down Guardians: AP rounds can go through they're shields they will drop like flies.
