Because having an engineer floating around flailing in front of the muzzle of his own turret was at least worth the ammusement points, but I would love to know if he actually took damage from it before we killed him.

Friendly fire doesn't exist. Advanced targeting computers make it impossible!

Probably not. The only instance of FF I remember is when ME2 heavies killed themselves via splash damage when they tried to shoot Shepard at short range.

I can remember a few instances in ME2 of enemies shooting their friends in the back of the head with missiles every now and again, but this has probably been fixed/revised for ME 3 to make it as challenging as possible.

"Singularity + Engineer + Turret = LOL"
Seriously, try it. Put the singularity right in front of the Turret and pull him from behind it. It is hysterical.
