Because nothing is universally well received, and the closer it comes to being universally acclaimed, the louder the few dissenters will become. It keeps things honest and keeps franchises from stagnating. It's a delicate ecosystem.

People are just scared of change. They remember what they loved about ME1 and while ME2 improved on a lot of it, there was and still is hate and concern over that as well. So of course a lot of people here are complaining about what the demo has offered us because they're afraid of change to a franchise they hold dear to them.

Then again, we're talking about a game with a substantial amount of followers. There have been over 50 topics at most on the problems with ME3 based on demo and gameplay feed. That's a small number compared to the amount of people who love the game regardless.

That is if you don't take into account those who stay quiet, but that number's impossible to tell.

It IS a delicate ecosystem isn't it?

People love to bash dissenters over what they think is gamer entitlement or trolling, but the truth is that everybody can't and shouldn't brown-nose their favorite developers.  Sure, praise them for what they do right, but don't be a boot-licker.

And I'm not saying that developers should stick to formula and not try new things, but simply CLONING other games to attract larger numbers does NOT bring improvement to a gaming genre.   It's just bending to what caters to larger demographics.  Sacrificing so much about your game just to reach those larger numbers is what sends great franchises into obscurity.

In other words there's nothing special about that game anymore.  By trying to be everything to everyone, it becomes nothing to ITSELF.  Anything that made it unique has been replaced with used parts from other genres, it no longer stands on the merits of it's own strengths.

I don't think ME3 has cloned other games.  ME2 poorly cloned some mechanics from gears of war.  ME3 took those cloned mechanics and made them their own and in the process created something new and quite interesting.

I have played multiplayer since the days of Doom and Quake.  I still play various multiplayer games now and most of them seem like the same old stuff repackaged slightly and possibly somewhat different fight modes.

The creation of a nicely balanced powers system to compliment the usual shooter multiplayer game play is a signifcant step forward.  I haven't had this much fun in multiplayer pretty much since the days of Quake II.  The fact it is co-op with a competitive element and a leveling system seems like a nice twist on a fairly standard design.

Now that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.  They need to expand the range of missions (maybe they do in the full game) so we can do stuff besides horde mode.  I'd love to see team based MP like CTF or team fortress.  But this is a great start.

They basically fixed all the things I hated about ME2 where I lost the ability to have fun with casters, long range ninja snipers and so forth.  Now I have been able to do these things again without it being game breaking.  What more could I want than that?

I will reserve my final judgement for the actual game. The devs have even said that certain stuff, like dialog, MP stuff, etc. have been taken out of the demo. They also said that the demo is an old build, and that many of the bugs, glitches, textures, etc. have been fixed in the final game.

I understand that no game is perfect. I even agree that there are certain things in ME3 that can be improved upon. However, you can't judge the entire game based on a half-hour, old and stripped down DEMO. There is a reason for why that the devs say that the demo is not a representation of the final product.

If you want to play a back game play WWE 12, they really drop the ball on that game. It kept freezing up, and the road to wrestlemania was bad, and the control should have been left alone.

I just got this game and loving it.
I was getting bored with SvR 11 and ended up playing 12 almost all day yesterday.  The new features are great.  Almost 12 hours of playtime yesterday and no freezing or anything like that.

I will agree the Road to Wrestlemania is bad but its got its good points and I'm even enjoying that.
As for the controls if they had left it alone we would never have used the stick for grabs to begin with lol.

Why people are hating on ME3 already?

Same thing hapened with ME2. Hipsters were pissed that ME was mainstream and they found problems with everything that deserved it and didn't.

Don't worry about ME3. Reading this forum before ME2 made me worry as well. I can't clock the time I've spent on ME2.

These are all things not working in it's favor.

wait do they have the same button doing a ton of stuff again like in me2? I had SO many problems with the vaulting over cover/just plain standing up thing. and trying to sprint and just ending up taking cover on accident halfway through. that was retarded

yeah, that's the whole point of the demo. it's just a test.  It may be very obsolete the day it's released.

I haven't even played it. I'm wait for when the actual full game gets released.

Because the demo was incredibly dissapointing, similarly to the release of Dragon Age 2. We can only hope for the best when the game is finally released, but based on the demo, it ain't lookin' too great.

The only aspect of the demo I found a little odd was the complete lack of a trial in the single player. The invasion seems too sudden and, unlike Mass Effect 2, there is no seamless transition and combination of exposition and pacing to the new story. The gameplay is great, and the multiplayer is surprisingly enjoyable. Judging visuals is not appopriate in a demo at all, so that is reserved for the final product's review.

Two questions.

What wasn't great?

So what you're saying is the invasion was too sudden and everyone was unprepared and didn't know it was coming? (I've seen the beginning citnematic, so yeah, I understand)

Yes you're right, that does seem a little odd because in arrival, they were like "Oh no the reapers will be here in like two days" and then all of a sudden they don't even care?

FYI next to my love of ME, SVR series is my favorite game series of all time *nods* WWE 12 is awesome, but as they do every year they take a few steps forward in some area and fumble the ball and fall in others... every year bar none

Because the demo gives the impression that player-driven dialogue has been drastically reduced.

Well, maybe if they hadn't been progressively dumbing down their games and stripping away the fun parts, we wouldn't have to.

Progressively? I'm pretty sure ME3 has made steps to make the game more complex.

Oh and theres a difference between making legitimate complaints (ME2 has alot less RPG) and nitpicking (Action is above RPG mode, WTF????)

ME games have gotten progressively dumbed down? When did this happen?

Didn't I recall people complaining cuz ME2 didn't have an I win button with Biotics? Or that they couldn't mod they're weapon to endlessly fire with no consequences? etc etc.

Or are we using minor issues like Not being able to holster your weapon in a combat zone, a few dialogue trees in a demo only had two choices and an OPTION of modes (action, story, RPG) as a basis to say a game is dumbed down now?

I agree I can't see why people are complaining so much.
-first it's just a demo
-microsoft does not allow demos to surpass 2 gigs of memory thus they have to take out a lot and dumb down the graphics to make it fit.
-the multiplayer survival mode is extreamly fun and less than half of what will be in the real game was put in the demo
-i don't see the big deal about holstering your gun that will most likely be in the game when your going around exploring, but when you're in action and fighting you obviously need your gun out.
-quit complaining and enjoy the fact that you get to enjoy a demo before the game comes out.
-I have pre-ordered and paid off the game already and cannot wait to play it the day it comes out.

Some people hate the slightest bit of change.
Some people just are naturally that ****y.
Some people can't help but ****** others off my ranting.
Some people just want others to know how much they hate something then get mad when no one agrees.
