ME games have gotten progressively dumbed down? When did this happen?

Didn't I recall people complaining cuz ME2 didn't have an I win button with Biotics? Or that they couldn't mod they're weapon to endlessly fire with no consequences? etc etc.

Or are we using minor issues like Not being able to holster your weapon in a combat zone, a few dialogue trees in a demo only had two choices and an OPTION of modes (action, story, RPG) as a basis to say a game is dumbed down now?

Seriously,  we're talking about an RPG that includes a mode that removes all of the RPG elements.  This idea alone guarantees it will stand beside Daikatana and Battlecruiser 3000AD in the annals of "Who thought this was a good idea and why are they working in game development?".

If you didn't want to make an RPG,  then why start out making an RPG?  The whole thing is completely mind-boggling.

People are just scared of change. They remember what they loved about ME1 and while ME2 improved on a lot of it, there was and still is hate and concern over that as well. So of course a lot of people here are complaining about what the demo has offered us because they're afraid of change to a franchise they hold dear to them.

Then again, we're talking about a game with a substantial amount of followers. There have been over 50 topics at most on the problems with ME3 based on demo and gameplay feed. That's a small number compared to the amount of people who love the game regardless.

That is if you don't take into account those who stay quiet, but that number's impossible to tell.

That's the excuse people have been using this whole generation of games for one bad decision after another.  Meanwhile,  the market has sales dropping month after month.  If you take COD out of 2011,  you get a 20% drop in sales.  January 2012 dropped 37% from 2010,  which itself was a drop.

It's really about time to stop trying to use this excuse for converting every game into a Shooter,  and start dealing with the fact that people aren't going to line up to buy nothing but Shooters.

Alternatively,  we can wait a few months(12-18 at most) and just watch everyone but Activision go out of buisness.

Some people hate the slightest bit of change.
Some people just are naturally that ****y.
Some people can't help but ****** others off my ranting.
Some people just want others to know how much they hate something then get mad when no one agrees.

So much hyperbole in one post and so much in this thread.

Do you people even look in the mirror from time to time, the huge majority of people in here attacking others for having different levels of enjoyment gained or lost in aspects you might love and they might not. When a few cross the line regardless of which side they fall into, the moderators and developers are smart enough people to step in and handle it. They do not need you attacking via so many are doing in here in this thread (as opposed to debating with each other) over differences of opinions regarding how much each gains or lacks enjoyment from 'elements' within the game.

In past month I have been called both a fanboy when agreed with Bioware on something and hater when disagreed. Praise is good and criticism serves a purpose. But you can do both without branding and attacking the other side.

The problem with BSN is the people are too trigger happy attacking each other because of their different views and branding each other. God forbid some elements of a game are more enjoyed by some and less enjoyed by others. Just because you did not enjoy something does not make you a hater, just because you liked something does not make you a fanboy. Far too often people do not join discussions on topics because they have an interest, they join to spew forth vitriol and hyperbole at each other because they simply have a different preference for gameplay elements.

Every single thread with word "hate" in the titles of late has been shown to hold the worst branding and attacks on other people that I have seen on BSN. This one is no different reading page after page of personal attacks on other people for having nothing more than different preferences in what each enjoys.

Were you satisfied with the writing in the demo?

Yes

No

Demo has lots of weak elements, and it brings misunderstanding about the final game.

The apologists are worse that the haters, sticking up for the game no matter what, being naive and blindly optimistic about all this is just a dumb way to go about it.

I am a huge Bioware fan, but I now have much lower expectations for this game after playing the demo, and hearing several questionable issues solidified by direct dev quotes (demo intro is the actual finished product, vital game play animations taken out etc) you can't just wish things like this away.

I'm still pre-ordering the game and will play it, and pray to the dark lord Xenu that I will be pleasantly surprised, although I might have to raid the high seas for a second copy, since I don't use Origin and if I can at all avoid having to install it I very well might.

I think that's enough hate on both sides, thanks.

End of line.
