Hehehe, I must admit: even I had to run that demo second time to get used to controls. Once you assimilate them, the game is a total fun!
People generally concern too much about everything in their daily lives, but hey, it's not like it's a real end of the world :)
I got a feeling that the start of the demo is not a real start in the final game. I can understand that BW cut some story choices in the start just to speed up a little the whole demo, but generally speaking, a little bit of automated responses in the middle of that first situation before everything goes up is fine by me and I'm sure not going to judge the whole (in this moment still unseen) product just because of that. Hehe, in that moment when you find those 2 marines near that metal bridge, in time when you need to jump down to begin the cinematic, I everytime manage to make a salto and it's cool to see how you can jump like that into a cinematic. But watching most of the other players on youtube I could see that only I did that. And I certainly don't have a problem with my "spacebar" (I play most my games on my PC).

There will always be people who see "small mistakes" and make a huge drama out of it, but I can live with that. I am a true RPG lover, but I must be honest: even the fighting is way much more better and advanced than it was in ME2. Playing on Insanity difficulty is now a pure fantastic experience and I love it.

Well, I must say another thing...The fact that I'm a woman in real life bring me instantly to the point that I have a great expectations about everything in my life cuz in most everyday case scenarios and situations I must work harder and act smarter just to make a decent living. Yes, it's hard to live in a men's world, but I manage. So, this game gave me what it promised even in the demo, can't wait to get my hands on my ME3 collectors edition in a few weeks.
Just, don't hate the final product until you play it to the bone.

Reapers, here I come, prepare your asses to be beaten! :D

You are just having completely unrealistic expectations.

You're joking right?

And what did you expect? Bioware has stated in various occasions that they no longer make RPG games for traditional audience. Now they do something called "interactive narrative with lot of emotional things put there to make the game surprinsingly awesome".

Aside from the generous helping of hype there, can you provide a source to this?

Salaya wrote...

If you don't like this, it's because you don't want to evolve with the new gaming era. Obviously.

Not evolving seems to work for COD fans quite well.  Maybe why I stopped playing it.

The shift from DA:O to DA 2 was dramatic; almost no continuity between them. No interest to go any further than  DA 2.

In ME 3, I am again expecting a continuity of the story and a finale to the series, not a major evolution in gameplay. I wasn't looking for co-op play based so I don't understand why it was added and figured the effort could have gone elsewhere. No objection if others enjoy it, but to me the whole series was a single player game. I wasn't expecting to install additional software (Origin) which adds nothing for the game except something else that can go wrong.

I don't hate what I've seen/experienced in the demo. I can see some things have evolved for the better or attempts to improve gameplay. The facial texture improvements were great but made the other textures look bad.

Evolving? Between DA 2 and ME 3, I think we're at the end of an era not so much as an evolutionary transition; if this is the direction EA is going (Origin, DLC, co-op, etc), I'm not interested and will go elsewhere. But I will finish the Mass Effect series. I'm gambling I will get enough replay value out of ME 3 to justify the pre-order cost but glad I killed the CE pre-order.

It is close to the release of Mass Effect 3 and people are bored. Though I am sure it will get worse on release, and then go down again when people get bored.

More like press a button and something awful and unpredictable will happen that will randomly cause your character to act stupid and die.

LAWL, it's worse in MP.

Way worse, try running away from hoards of cerberus troopers (named assualt troopers) and getting stuck on cover and when you try to exit cover you end up going into cover on the other side and you die and everyone gets mad because you were the last one standing.

So, umm ... play better? Lol no offense but I have had zero problems with this. Ok, I guess I did roll diagonally one time when I was running and let go of the button for a second before hitting again. GAME BREAKING! Seriously, don't spam the A button and don't get so excited and tense when things start getting hairy. If you know where you want to go, i.e. roll backward out of cover to get away, then press back and then A, if you're holding right on the stick and hit A and there's more cover to go to, that's what it will do! Make deliberate movements. The system works well when used properly.

You have to understand - here is BioWare - creating a huge, HUGE successful franchise - and probably the biggest Space Opera since StarWars and Star Trek - and it grows and resonates very closely with people.

There are die hard fans out there who have grown so close to the series - they have gotten themselves tattoos. (side note: I wonder if some of them are actually looking into getting them removed ^^)

But that's just a huge factor.

Mass Effect was brilliant.
Mass Effect 2 was brilliant.

and Mass Effect 3 might be brilliant as well - nobody surely knows at this point.

But -

People are extremely paranoid at the moment with the franchise - and I fully understand them.

LOL people so quick to judge. Of course they are not going to give us much in the demo and as for you that QQ you expect half the game already with all functions. At least we got a little sample because it's not like they had to give us anything right now. Frankly I really enjoyed the demo and the music score is so totally epic. Mansell does an awesome job! Hope they release this on cd. I just wonder when people will be satisfied. We live in a day that modern technology gives us more than we can ever imagine and even when we get great things people still want more and more and **** and complain cause its not good enough. Lol well go back to playing marbles, match box cars and barbie dolls. Maybe you should go to the library for once in your life and actually learn something useful like how to make a great video games.........lmfao. When you get there and are so awesome let me know so I can invest in your worthless company.........trolls Bioware you have done an awesome job with all that you do. One appreciative customer. :)

Who cares about the haters? Let them live their lives as they used to and in the same time we, who actually are happy about this Mass franchise, will enjoy in every moment this great story has.

People have an issue with facts, they can't face it normally and they seem to lack that needed bit of flexibility when a story this huge as Mass Effect conquer their free time, hearts and minds.
We all do have great expectations and we all felt this story in our own individual way, but the fact is that no one in the known world can satisfy everyone, even BioWare.
DA,ME,TOR... they are all 3 different universes and I happy find a place there for me, no matter if there may be or are some things that I don't like if the crucial concept is enjoyable and makes me feel good.
I love all my FemSheps, all my Jedi and Sith warriors, all my Grey Wardens and FemHawkes to the bone and every one of them is different and has a bit of me in them. And that is because I like it that way, that's the point.
If you have problem with fighting, try other fighting tactics and you will certainly find one suitable for you. You think you have a lot of automatic responses by just playing one demo? Try play the whole game and measure your feelings and excitements after you completed it; if you still are angry and not satisfied, you can always say to yourself that you did give it a go, but never come back again, find something more amusing and awesome and go on with your lives.
We all are different and we all decided to give it a go. If it turns out to be a blind shoot, well, bad things happens eventually every day. No big deal, it's the way the whole world is turning right now.
Learn to live with it :)

you know thats a really good point.

i think people know this is shepards last hoora and maybe there just hating because future games wont have him

another thing is i think people really set the bar very high regarding certain things the devs have stated. i have argued that things do in fact change but people wont listen sadly.

and tbh as great as me1 was it did have some minor little things i didnt like but hey in the end i still enjoyed it and didnt let it cloud my excitment for the rest of the trilogy

1. Dragon Age 2
2. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are totally different games and both have their hardcore fans
3. Story choices were a big selling point, but were reduced to small distraction in ME2, doesn't look much better for ME3.
4. Bridge DLC, especially Arrival set the stage for an epic homecoming and trial of Shepard
5. Bioware bragged and hyped how amazing ME3 will be, but demo obviously has dozens of flaws from animations to heavily scripted levels to corny dialogue.

IMO Mass Effect 1 showed enormous potential, but bit by bit the series has crumbled. ME3 looks little more than mediocre shooter with straightforward story. The only thing I can say I'm not worried about is the music and audio, loved start menu as well as every song, guns sound a lot better and most voice actors did well.

This a thousand times over. Now, even though ME 3 is in a series that was planned from the start with a clear direction with the same people working on all 3, credibility has become an issue. The marketing for ME 3 stinks very similar to DA 2, which is why I'm personally concerned. All flash and bang, very dramatic, but whole lot of downplaying of more or less confirmed rumors if true could be a HUGE negative for the game. Bioware isn't the king of RPG goodness anymore, they very handedly were beat off their throne when you look at last year. DA 2 was hands down one of the worst RPG's to come out last year when you compare that to the quality other companies put out. The Witcher 2 definately was better by a long shot, Skyrim while a different sort of game definately was, but it showed Bioware has a lot more competition now. They can't just slap their name on something and expect it to do well.

TOR is completely different audience so I won't say that's so much the reason for the skeptism as much as the failure that was DA 2. I really blame the smoke and mirrors marketing they did for that game rather than the game itself. It was presented one way, but actually was something completely different. ME 3 is kinda doing the same thing. It just plain looks suspicious so people would rather cancel a pre-order and get it after it's fully exposed rather than buy into a flashy marketing ad campaign.

Why is there so much hate for ME3?

1. Because EA is Satan and Stalin combined and they're dedicated to making ME horrible, as well as force Origin upon us.
2. Because they're bringing back the horrible ME1 squad who are all just awful fanservice compared to the perfection and depth that are the ME2-exclusives. And to make matters worse, they're adding in Roid-Rage Jersey-Shore Vega.
3. Because it's become nothing more than a generic shooter, pandering to the CoD crowd. You can tell because they added in multiplayer, which is a feature only brainless games have. Also the optional Action Mode.
4. Because not only are our choices meaningless, renegades are getting screwed over. And no TIM-mance.
5. Because Bioware also made that horrible DA2 game; no, not the same team, but it's all connected somehow.

Did I get everything?
