I wouldn't go as far as to call them idiots.
They just don't know any better.
Street junkies have fun too, in the end they're just hurting themselves though.
The word fun doesn't really have any context in this dialogue.
I was actually expecting you to say that.
The point you missed though is that "fun" has no context in this conversation.
Every second guy can have fun with anything but it has nothing to do with the quality of the product which we are discussing.
If fun has no place when talking about a video game, then what does, what is your point?

Mhm. That's why the games are entertaining enough to sell and be played, so the consumer spends hours playing and the developers get paid.
On what criteria is the series unsucessful, let me guess, the "I don't like it, therefore it sucks and everyone who plays it is dumb", one right?
Do better than that.
And it's wrong. Do better than that.
I did laugh at the challenge part, for an online game.
Not as much as I laughed when I got my first train set, pure glee.

What really gets on my nerves is not the criticism, the constant badmouthing on bioware, how their current "direction" has something somehow related to CoD (i don't understand how, guess that everything one does not like in a game MUST be CoD related), how cinematics suck, how they are sold to EA, etc etc. That kind of ranting amazes me only so far that I don't understand why people who hate the company are still here spreading hated, cynicism and general misanthropy.
What bugs me is the constant patronizing tone which these characters speak, all in their high horses teaching us that if we like the current state of affairs then we are either blind, in denial, stupid, COD fans (i still fail to get this one), bad "recent" fans who are substituting the "real good" fans of past golden bioware times, etc etc.
An advice for all the pessimists: you are perfectly entitled to your pessimism, try not behaving like complete ass holes all the friggin time. That includes NOT JUDGING YOUR AUDIENCE. You don't know me nor my reasons for liking the series. So stop calling me "deluded" or saying that I am rationalizing the bad parts because "i want to believe". Stop assuming that your audience is dumber than you are and then perhaps BSN will restore itself to a saner state, at least like it was a month ago or something.

don't understand this thread at all - impossible to judge a 30-50 hr game on :20 min of demo game play. You're right. The games market continues to evolve and the gamers of today are more and more demanding and you need to keep up with that modernising unless you are an indie company who wants to stick to the PC niche market anyway then you have more wiggle room with what you can do with a game.
The big companies are all fighting for their cut of the market and to compete with the top games it needs to be modern and impressive and accessible to a variety of gamers not just a niche market. Bioware has always evolved and along the way they gained new fans and the "old" fans got upset with each new game. I remember full well the rage of old fans over Mass Effect being a console game and how DAO was not exactly like Baldurs Gate II.
Some things never change but Bioware will keep moving forward.

Okay, I shouldn't be laughing nearly as hard as I am at the continuous "train set" theme running in your posts.![]()
Anyway, back on topic, DA2 REALLY dissapointed me, especially following DA:O (which is personally my favorite game of all time [Not including the classics]). It's a damned shame, but it is what it is. I probably won't be getting another Dragon Age game (which upsets me just to think about. PLEASE BIOWARE MAKE ANOTHER DA:O)
As for Mass Effect, it's never disappointed me nearly as much. Sure ME2 removed a lot of stuff, but it was just the clutter. The inventory system in ME1 blew - too many options not enough meaning - the skills were great but could be boiled down, etc etc. They over-simplified it in ME2, making for an overall lesser game, but it was still good. My hope, as the hope of many here, is that ME3 will have the best of both worlds. From what I've seen, it has. Good, meaningful choices in terms of combat and weapon loadout (we didn't get to do that in the demo, but I've seen it before), and more interesting skill choices. The combat movement is very fluid, at least on PC, for me. Takes some getting used to, but it's great.
My main concern is story. Any other day, I would of said, "Hey, it's a BioWare game, don't worry about it," and left it at that, but nowadays...
