don't understand this thread at all - impossible to judge a 30-50 hr game on :20 min of demo game play. Opening on earth is clearly graphically poorer than salarian base sequence - suggests demo is a bit of this and that - and was done prior to main game going gold - maybe op is right, maybe not - will see 3-9, meanwhile, something to b*tch about is all...itzagame...idea is fun...i likely will have some regardless or irregardless...can't remember which...must talk with mordin...

Not impossilble because this theard is evindence of that happening...

now the logic behind it is another story

Probably we've played more than 5 games in our lifetime, and even bigger the amount of demos to form an opinion?

Perhaps you'll say "But teh, how can I know that?"

Well I wouldn't know.

oh boy  the " You have not played as many games as me"  Defense...

its not just bioware, its videogames in general.

nowadays theres this checklist mentality to what a good game is.
Multiplayer? check.
M-rated? Check.
Visceral Combat? Check.
Graphics? Check.

Admittedly, those are good things all on their own, but nobody understands what made games great in the first place. Everyone's so obsessed in cramming all these things into a game that they forget to make the game a game.

Can this be my last quote in this thread to this fine gentleman?

Calling everyone who buys COD games idiots? Really? REALLY? Holy ****ing crap, this forum continues to blow my mind. Wow...

I wouldn't go as far as to call them idiots.

They just don't know any better.

Or maybe they have fun. You know. The whole point of buying video games.

Street junkies have fun too, in the end they're just hurting themselves though.

The word fun doesn't really have any context in this dialogue.

Your actually comparing a street junkie to someone who plays CoD? Wow dude...Just when I thought you couldn't sink any lower.

I was actually expecting you to say that.

The point you missed though is that "fun" has no context in this conversation.

Every second guy can have fun with anything but it has nothing to do with the quality of the product which we are discussing.

If fun has no place when talking about a video game, then what does, what is your point?

Are you dense? I'll just repeat

Every second guy can have fun with anything but it has nothing to do with the quality of the product which we are discussing.

Just saying "NO THINK IT'S FUN" or "NO IT'S NOT FUN FOR ME" brings us nowhere.

Actually, fun is the ONLY measure of whether a piece of entertainment has suceeded in reaching the individual who is experiencing that piece of entertainment. Comparing finding fun in a video game to a junkie slowly killing themselves with drugs? Nice inflammatory strawman, there. I could say exactly the same thing about video games that you find fun. Just as valid a comparison, too.

If it entertains me, it has succeeded. Quality is arbitrary and, frankly, pointless. I don't care if a game is regarded as "high quality", if I'm not having fun playing it. I also don't care if a game is regarded as "low quality" if I -am- having fun playing it. People like to rave about the "good old days" of Baldur's Gate. You know, if BG was released today, it would tank so hard in today's market. BioWare know this and that's why they don't make those games anymore.

BioWare don't make the sorts of games you like anymore. I'm sorry to hear that. I guess, unless you want to buy them from EA and give them artistic direction, you're just gonna have to deal with it, eh? Rant and rave all you like. I'll be over here enjoying my videogame drug of choice, just like a happy little street junkie.

Just write and let me know how the campaigning for going back to video games circa 1990 is working out for you, eh?

If the game is relased and plays like the demo, I'm gonna have a lot of fun with it. Why would I apologize for something that I find entertaining (kinda like the way I find your posts entertaining)

Exactly, I hereby declare that everyone who enjoys ME3 should send TC a picture of a train, to remind him of all the good times he's missing, as trains are symbolic of joyful revery.

Wow, two of my favorite points to dispute in one thread! The whole "Bioware has changed and doesn't care about their old fans" and "Bioware is enslaved by EA". Newsflash, Bioware still makes the games they want to make. Sure EA has some insight but you are deluding yourself if you think they control every aspect of the creative process.

lol.

Mass Effect is my favorite of the two though; I play Call of Duty for mindless entertainment and Mass Effect for story entertainment value

This. The golden era is over. Now everything is dictated by EA suits.

The good news is that more and more developers are looking into Kickstarter after Double Fine's resounding success. Perhaps in a near future we won't need publishers anymore. I do hope that BioWare will at some point shine again but it's not going to happen under the shadow of EA.

It seems their recent failure is an excuse to cut them some slack, forgetting the quality of games these guys used to create.

The CoD and the rest of the "new audience" is thrilled with the outcome of the last games, and this demo too, I guess so this is enough for Bioware

Everyone's that satisfied with the level Bioware is, in these 2 last years, should know that they're actually hurting them, and pointing at you, older fans, you should be ashamed of yourselves for being content with this.

Just being honest and saying what every old and faithful (and disapointed) fan of Bioware's thinks.

Cancel Preordered.

Do you mind explaining to me what the relevance of the "CoD crowd" is in regards to Mass Effect? I don't know if you've noticed, but they're sort of completely different games with very different circumstances.

CoD is on a strict yearly development cycle led by THREE different studios, which Activision oversee like something out of a George Orwell novel. Mass Effect 3 has had a little over 2 full years of development time, with NO change in development team at all, and EA wouldn't be allowed to interfere even if they wanted to.

Trying to drag some sort of massive casual crowd with a label into the argument isn't going to help you. If ME3 is a bad game, at least give Biowares Mass Effect team the courtesy they deserve and actually judge it AFTER YOU'VE PLAYED IT.

Teh, that is a quote invented by the magazine. Producer Melo did not say anything even remotely similar, you just have to read the article.
