Ya I get what your trying to say and honestly the last great game they put out was DA:O, but I'm still going to get this for 2 reasons:
1- I already played the other 2 games
2- If it sucks then this plus DA2 will have killed all hope I have in bioware thus freeing up a ton of time/money that I wont waste on future games from them.
You forgot SWTOR.. yeah I know it's an MMO but still.. its made by BW and that game was a HUGE failure and if this trend continues then I have lost all my faith in BW.
Huge failure? Where the hell did you come to that conclusion? It sold more copies than any other MMO so far (with the exception of WoW ofc) and also has more subscribers than any other mmo than WoW, if that's your definition of a failure then I really want to know waht your definition of a success is.
^ This. I would love to hear your reasons on why you think TOR failed.
Are two measuring a game's success by its sales?
No, a game's sucess is made by the reviews, sales and awards. Whiny people over the internet don't decide what's a fail or not.
It seems I have to beat some sense into you.
A game's quality is DEFINIITELY NOT measured by reviews since it's a common business for reviewers to give out biased and unqualifying positive reviews for, what else?, money.
Secondly, SALES have nothing to do with quality, they are actually a great indication of how successful a companie's marketing is, how great their EPIC TRAILER DERP are.
It has also to do with how mature and able of critical thinking is the target group of the game.
tldr; see CoD.
And awards?
Awards by whom? Awards mean nothing in the game industry fool.
I can't believe I actually answered to this guy.
Ok, why don't you tell me how a game's is successful? I am sure you'll give me a very intelligent answer so you think you're such a "old and loyal" Bioware fan.
Plus, COD is successful. It might not appeal to you, it might not be your type of game but it is successful. Just cuz you don't play it doesn't mean it's not successful.
Let's see here. Successful is quite a subjective term.
As far as I see it, COD was never successful. They just made alot of money.
No back to you, succession can be legitimately assessed by the balance and advancement in technical terms (in which department ME3 clearly lacks).
Further than that, (and most importantly) by how deep and challenging the GAMEPLAY is, which everybody knows isn't the strong asset of the ME series.
There are secondary features too, like music, story and dialogue.
That's how direct assessment of a game works.
Other than that though, indirectly through the years, you can judge how worthy a game was in its lifetime by judging how the general responce from the fans is (not just first month sales), how it affected the gaming industry and how it aged.
In this modern day and age, you can pre-judge how good a game's gonna be by how much of sellouts the developers are. Keep that in mind too.
Step up.
