Multplayer Party Search?

From what I could tell, there is no way to invite friends to a party and then search for a public match. Am I being stupid or is this not a feature?

Or, does the Create Match Function allow you to add private slots to the game, invite your friend and then allow other people to join. The interface wasn't as self-explanitory as it could have been in my opinion.

They didn't add party search? I guess I'll cancel the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo session I had planned with my mates once it would have been released to the public.
