ok I love PC gaming because it lets me do all kinds of modding, but I am a disabled gamer.

In a game like ME3 the keyboard mouse controls just don't work well for the way I have to handle controling something, my left hand is useless for anything but single key presses and can't stay on or near the wasd set up so I use the numpad, but i'm also right handed, so I use the mouse with my right hand basically 99% of the gaming control on a keyboard comes exlusively from my right hand.

the way controllers work such as the Xbox360 controller all the major fuctions are in the right hand, my left hand is free to use the thumbstick, and the triggers don't care that I can barely move all but one of my fingers independantly from one another.

So I ask, and I hope my post is read by the delvelopers, is there any reason why you cannot include controller support for ME3 PC.  I would very much like to enjoy the platform I find the most use out of, with a game I hope to love just as much, but that can only happen if you give me the option to use the only control system that works best for me.

I thought that all new games was xbox controller supported. Why would it not be?

Xbox controller.
Microsoft OS.
Game originally made for Xbox.

Yet it doesn't support the controller? I was planning on getting it for PC, when I get my rig built, but you can't mod and now you can't use the controller?

considering the PC version is pretty much a console port.. I see no reason for it not to support the controller. I'd like to see an official answer for you about this topic.

So would I, I sent a note to Chris, but haven't heard back....this is...rather sad, honestly.

And thanks for the support.

Bioware as confirmed that the pc version won't have 360 controller support, which in this day an age, for a company as big as Bioware, is pretty much retarded. i've played me e me2 on both xbox and pc and i prefer much more the controller. that said i'm buying it for pc since it's a new machine and all.

This has been the way of it since the first Mass Effect game. I was suprised as well that the controls were only keyboard and mouse supported. Luckily the controls are very easy compared to any other game I've played on PC. Still, it would be nice for the game to have the option to use a controller such as the Xbox 360.

As a disabled gamer myself, I feel for you Joan. It is possible to change it down the road by a patch? I don't know. They did something like that for an online game I used to play called Final Fantasy 11. I'd like to think they can do it for ME3 too.

I don't know much about console controllers as I do not own a console, But the X-box 360 emulator my help you..
Not sure how, as I understand it you use it for other input devices such as a joystick or steering wheel to emulate a controller, but maybe it is also backward compatible ? Maybe some else more knowledgeable can assist you on this.

They've answered the question a dozen times in the general forums. They don't ever intend to include controller support.

So basically bioware said: **** the disabled persons.

Nice ethical company we have here.
Charging a day 1 dlc, throwing a middle finger to the disabled people and inflatable omniblades for 50 bucks.

Sunk hard.

I'm pretty sure someone will eventually mod in the x360 controller support just as it happened for ME2 (unless they totally encode coalesced.bin).
I enabled some x360 controller functions in the demo based on the ME2 work. If you're interested you can find it here:
http://social.biowar...76918/3#9376014

It's basic as it only gives you controls for combat (with no power wheel). I also managed to enable it in the menus, but then I couldn't get past character creation, so I'm not releasing that. I imagine it won't be much of an issue in the full game.

It seems that while creating a PC gui they have simply overwritten the X360 settings. It was probably the fastest/easiest route to scrap x360 controller support.

Only real alternative is to use a program like Xpadder or Pinnacle Game Profiler (which simulate gamepad support by binding keyboard keys to gamepad buttons).

They won't, bioware don't treat their costumers like they used in NWN times.
Its a shame that he needs to recur to mods or third party programs.Plain bull**** , its not just because he is disabled , they developed the game for 360 too, wouldn't take any time to do it so.
But they are too lazy.

As far as I know they are not free, but there are some free alternatives (usually not as good as these two though).

Example: Joy2Key

I don't think that's what they said at all. Neither of the previous games have included controller support. There wasn't really any reason to expect it in ME3. Their reasons for this decisions don't really have anything to do with disabled gamers.

Map keys to a controller. Analog sticks aren't too bad either.

Yeah, I feel your pain.  ME3 won't have controller support because the PC and console versions use different user interfaces.  Unfortunately, neither xpadder nor the controller supporting mods have ever worked great.

I played ME and ME2 on both PC and Xbox and like others, much prefer the xbox controller.  The PC version (with FXAA post processing and high res textures) looks so much better, so I tried for a long time to get the xbox controller to work on my PC version.  There's just nothing that worked perfectly.  Xpadder does technically work, but it's glitchy and doesn't mesh well with the PC GUI... it's just not anything like playing it on the xbox.  Also the action menu would not allow aiming when time was frozen.  The best results I found [for ME] came from a mod that was very difficult to locate but did allow controller support and the joystick sensitivity was right - something I could never get working with xpadder.  Even that, though, didn't work great in the menus but combat was nearly exactly like the xbox version.  Why BioWare doesn't just use the same menu system and allow controller support is... as Darthshot said, "retarded".

If you are disabled but can play on a controller, why not just purchase an Xbox?

If we can mod the Coalesced.bin file and not get banned, you might get a controller working pretty well without paying a dime.

BW however is not supporting it and they've locked several threads about the issue already.

Right now the big question is whether modding the game file will get you banned outright since modding that file changes both SP and MP game settings.  I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see EA letting that slide and it will pretty much kill any sort of end-user modding of ME3 like we could with ME2.

All we can do is wait and see.

It seems pretty obvious that those threads were locked because they were in the wrong section of the forums. No? There are many threads on this issue that were not locked.

Yep, it's a shame.  Mass Effect could have had one hell of a modding community.
