As I understand it, Samantha is your Diplomatic Relations Officer who will give you political aid on missions and probably off them too. Steve is the shuttle pilot but also (if I recall correctly) in charge of weapons/armor/item acquisition.

So Steve and Samantha are not even squadmates? Then I guess, it is likely that we will get more s/s romance options, at least some of the squadmates are likely imo. I always thought Vega was given as s/s option because he was a new squaldmate (easier to write than retrofitting an exisiting one) and I always assumed that all serios LIs are squadmates. Besides, the sparring between him and Shep in the voice action trailer was kinda homoerotic to me. If he isn't availiable I would be kinda disappointed by now.
Or maybe they the Dragon Age 2 way and make every major LI bisexual.
Neither of those things are looking likely.
Steve and Sam are written to be important characters while not being squadmates - they have lots and lots of lines on the Normandy, and feature in missions.
They feel more fleshed out than, say, Kelly.

Inb4 "Liara is not female"
From a human perspective she comes across as female.

she's just not considered as being female, because there are no male counterparts to compare, but that's all.

of course, liara is female. asari are monogendered not nongendered. monogendered means there's only one gender. and since asarai don't need a penis, just a vagina to bear (I don't think they'll spit their children out with their mouth...come on, really?), they have to be females.

Hmm then how they reproduce before intergalactic travel??? I always imagine they had reproduction organs similar to female hyenas. That alone let me cringe whenever an Asari rub herself against my Sheps.

I strongly think that since we have Diane who is bi-sexual and Jersey Shore-looking, that we get Vega that is bi-sexual, cause for balance and because he´s Jersey Shore-looking.
there are some quotes where he comes across really straight...he even makes gay jokes with cortez .

they reproduct themselves via parthenogenesis. this means they connect the nerve cells of their brain organs with each other. I don't know how it works, but their brain is different from our brain. maybe they have some special structure. remember, they are alos able to use biotic power by nature. I think that's also controlled over their nervous system.

Well, i´m bisexual and i tell gay jokes.
I also flirt with girls, exhange looks and stuff.
Overall, i come across as a pretty average straight guy.
But when it comes to the other side... Let´s just say that i´m pretty adaptive.

Oh, I remember something like that. Thanks for reminding it.
Do they reproduce with other races same way? It would then explain how they can have children with Salarian whose reproduce like frogs. Hmm I wonder if they can reproduce with animals?? Maybe not with simple ones but advanced ones like primates.
I would love to have a book explaining alien race anatomies.

I think it works in the same way, though the process of reproduce with other species might be more complicated because of the genetic differences. I don't think each material can be used without pulling out the right genes. and the more different the other species is the more unlikely could it be to finally get useful genes. since lower animals are quite primitive I think their genetic differences are far to high, even for asaris. But most species are available I think. hmm, don't know. would be interesting to read something about it, yes.

yeah, but I don't think they'll make a game character that complex when it comes to sexuality. I don't remember one bioware guy who was openly straight, didn't show interest in the male main character and end up bisexual. of course, there's sky, but he wasn't too openly straight. he was more the kind of guy who was married and never came to the possibility of flirting with another guy. but...really, I'd like to have bisexual Vega ...or a Vega who's actually straight but still falls in love with dude shepard. That'd be even more interesting. But...I don't think, it'll happen. Since everyone saw the gay character in him, Bioware wanted to make him straight I think.
