From the leaks I believe theres one named black widow, anyone have an idea what that is all about?

That's interesting the stats don't mention anything about perforation, it doesn't seem that much more powerfull than the mantis from the stats screen I managed to find in an other thread.

Correct, however im guessing it hits roughly 30% harder and it has some penetration, no idea how much.
But it kills a guardian with a stomach shot straight through his riotshield.

In ME2 it's stated that it can perforate armor (no shields explicity but...), as long as it's an anti-vehicle rifle

This widow is a modified version of the widow from ME2.

This is what the info on the weapon says in the game:
Several research firms spent a considerable fortune trying to redesing the Widow sniper rifle.
Their goal was to retain the geth weapon's considerable firepower while reducing its recoil, so that the gun could be fired without breaking a non synthetics arm. After much trial and error one company finally produced a usable model rolled out to the galactic market.

Also here is some more ingame info, I just took it for another spin.
This is from bronze.

1shot kills:
troopers, except if you hit them in the arms/legs. Then they are reduced to 10% health.
It will penetrate multiple troopers and kill each of them.
I managed to kill 2 with 1shot multiple times.

Centurions: die from 1shot to head even with full shield.
Phantoms: die from 1shot to head even with full barrier.

Anything less than those die from body shots.

I assume you mean Phantoms? And getting a reliable headshot on then with a bolt-action sniper is a b*tch.

This is nice but what kind of buff did you have? cloak? adrenaline rush? ammo power with bonus head shot damage? the bonus head shot damage from soldier combat mastery?

This is nice but what kind of buff did you have? cloak? adrenaline rush? ammo power with bonus head shot damage? the bonus head shot damage from soldier combat mastery?

I only have +10% weapon damage from alliance training.
And I see that I made a mistake, its ment to say phantom, not banshee =)

Only downside is the low ammo count, you will have to hover around an ammo crate. You only have 8/9 shots.

Me too. I looooved the Widow with my Infiltrator in ME2.

It's really OP in MP, lol. Reminds me of the old AWP in counter strike back when it could one shot kill with a hit to the toe.

How many enemies spawn per wave?

Because I could guess a team of four Infiltrators with the Widow each and a good vantage point would utterly slaughter any enemy unlucky enough to funnel into their scope.

Some waves have infinite mobs until the goal is met or you run out of time and fail.
Others I'd guess have around 10-30 varied mobs

I just started leveling an infiltrator with this badboy....... the damage it delivers is incomparable.
On bronze it takes me 3shots to down an Atlas.
With cloak a body shot will kill a centurion or phantom.

Every time I buy one of those packs I'm hoping for this. I've got two shotguns up to like level 5 or 6, but I never seem to get any snipers.

Hoping I can just choose to buy the Widow in ME3 - having it based entirely on chance is annoying.

yeah the good old widow i liked this weapon so much in ME2

I doubt it, however since I've heard (don't know since I sadly don't have it yet /cry) it is gold bordered, hence "rare" I'm guessing there will be a pack after the veterean pack at release that has at least slightly higher odds of rare items.

On topic, I can't wait to finally get this, Infiltrator is all I've played as so far, and probably half a dozen times I end up being the last one alive having to stealth around completeing objectives so I don't run out of time while I pick off people one at a time.

As for the ammo concern, did you have the extra thermal clip mod thingy, because if I'm not mistaken that will add enough ammo to not be overly concerned, unless of course you're missing a lot.  For example, I believe the base bolt action starts with like 13 shots (12 clips, 1 in the chamber), and now at like level 5 of the rifle and 5 or 6 of the clip I'm up to 25 shots, so I'm guessing the widow won't be too far behind that, though leveling the widow will be just as much of a pain as getting it in the first place right now.

The Black Widow is an upgraded version of the Widow, its lighter, has more ammo capicty etc.
