My first time playing the demo a couple of days ago, I was playing as a Level 1 Soldier on Silver difficulty. That being said, it was incredibly tough for a new character, but I thought I'd get some bonus XP. Then, when I played on Bronze, I realized that it was the same.

So what's the point, then? I think that in the retail version, they should up the XP to provide incentive to playing on higher difficulties.

If you complete Bronze, you get about 15k credits, but it you complete Silver, it is about 35k credits... you see the difference.

I'd recommend bronze until you have at least 3 people around level 12 for silver. Its actually quite difficult to complete.

You do get more xp, just not in the form of a bonus. Enemies have more health, leading to higher kill and assist scores. There are also more enemies in general to add to your score.

Plus the ~2 veteran packs per game is nice for silver... getting ready to get on gold here pretty soon.

Yeah, you just don't do the higher difficulties at level 1. I've been seeing rather silly people trying out Gold difficulty at level 1 or 2. These difficulties aren't really a matter of how skilled you are playing, it's a matter of your actual level and skill playing.

I was a level one engineer last night and playing with a few other low ranked players and we beat bronze twice it wasn't terribly hard.

Heck me and one other player got to wave 10 by ourselves (lvl 18 and 7 respectively)

Silver is harder and gold is pretty difficult

Made it to Wave 8 in Gold... Atlas spam is a bit ridiculous, but we were a little liberal on the earlier waves. Wave 10 objective isn't going to be easy.

Remember when we used to play games on hard difficulties for fun? No bonus, no incentives, no achievements/trophies. Just good old fun and bragging rights?

DARK SOULS!

I hear ya. Nothing trains tactics, perception and reflexes like higher difficulty levels. Yum. <3

Three complementary classes, too.

Don't run in there with three vanguards expecting to go far.

Four, somewhat high-level, balanced characters are ideal to tackle silver.

Not to mention good communication on Silver. It's like the game actually wants to make you work as a team...

Completed it a couple of times on Silver. It was very challenging but very, very rewarding. Wave 10 had about 4-5 Atlas's and Wave 11 seemed like it was all Atlas + Guardians..

First group I did it with was with a Soldier, Vanguard and 2x Adepts all between level 14-18.

Our group tried, but failed at about wave 7 because we had a mixed setup, and no Adept on board. Me as a sentinel sniping (Mantis/headshotting) may not have helped either. You think a Widow sniper could help with the guardian waves? Otherwise I'd be at loss how to fit the human female sentinel into silver mode. :pinched:

Gold is really hard. I made it through Silver with one other guy, playing as a lvl 11 Shotgun Infil and he a Krogan Soldier, but it was tough and we were only able to do it by using a lot of medigel, rocket launchers, and communicating.

Bear in mind that we're not really equipped to handle the added challenge. In the full game our one time use ammo/armor mods will be be better because we'll be buying higher level item packs. Level 1 inferno ammo just doesn't cut it on gold.

There's still bragging rights at stake.
"Dude, you sniped that guardian through the slit in his shield!?!"
"Hey, watch me biotic charge that guy in your singularity!"
"My Krogan just beat down a Phantom single-handedly!"

Possibly my favorite moment so far. We had a three man team, one of our guys was down. As I was on my way to revive him, a trooper moved in to curb stomp him.
Suddenly, our vanguard teammate biotic charged the trooper, knocking him out of the picture. He then covered me while I revived our teammate and we went to on get a full extraction several waves later.

Yeah I foresee lots of great stories told when the final game comes around.

One favourite moment of mine so far was when I revived 2 people one after another. One of them had died at the hands of a Phantom, I think the second one died having just taken the Phantom out and attempting to revive the fallen squadmate, I rushed over once I knew it was fairly safe to do so, revived them both :D

Damn right, there is no need to have extra rewards for completing them.

You get more credits, more xp. there are more enemies so you get more kills, and hence more medals for more xp.

Also, for the challenge. After awhile, Bronze becomes incredibly easy if you have a good squad, so Silver is the next step. Once that becomes fairly easy to finish, you still have gold difficulty.

Yeeeaah. No brainer. Not even playing on Silver or Gold 'til I level up quite a bit on Bronze.
