Why can't they just get these things right. Bioware has a multinational company backing it and sure they want a larger profit return, but can't they just make something optimized for the console. PC should get higher res textures and controls that suit it, consoles should get a properly optimized code that allows them to play without these issues.

Vsync can very much be the culprit. It acts as an FPS limiter. You can't break 30 frames if your on a 1080i display, that means any performance hits come out of that 30 frame limit.

On PC, if I enable vsync on a game like Half Life 2, I go from hundreds of frames per second to just 60. I can afford the hit, because I'll rarely dip below 50. Out of 30 frames, the problem is much more obvious.

Look at all of the people arguing *against* someone else getting their crippling framerate issues sorted out.

They deserve everybody's congratulations for finding a completely futile point to make, then making it out of pure spite with literally no useful aim or objective in sight.

Slow clap, guys. You're heroes.

Meanwhile, back on planet earth, everyone who even vaguely cares is likely to hope PS3 owners get the full experience - not least of all BioWare. Here's hoping something can be done about it.

If you don't care for ME why are you even in the ME forums?

I dunno, perhaps sometimes you feel moved to drop a sane, non "elitist" comment into the thread when 29,000 people post "buy an XBox", "buy a PC" in something that appears in your feed.

Don't worry, for each comment like DuckSoup's there will still be 90 like this:

LOL@XBox/PC/PS3 owners. In my expert opinion it takes 33 zots and one half of a developer's leg to make moar SPUs if there are 120 shader pipelines, but only 12 zots and the leftovers from a developer's lunch if there are 121 shader pixel voxel vertex praxel SPU pipelines. My co-worker at the burger bar told me and let me tell you he knows his stuff, he knows a guy who once completed FIFA. XBox/PC/PS3 oo-rah!

Graphics wise looking at the comparison video they both look identical in my eyes, the PS3 version looks marginally brighter but that can easily be corrected by changing the brightness settings.
The frame rate on the PS3 version look slightly choppy in some instances but its not a difference you would actually notice unless you specifically looked after it.
Before seeing this video I was watching some PS3 gameplay and didn't notice anything seriously wrong with the frame rate or graphics.

I don't own a PS3 but I have seen how the ME3 demo looks like over at a friends place and there are no huge differences between the PS3 and the 360 version (unlike SOME ports of which the PS3 almost always seems to get the short end of the stick COUGH COUGH).

If the release version happens to be as "ugly" and "choppy" as some PS3 reviewers claim it to be then I am sure Bioware will release some sort of fix shortly after release, its not like they will start developing their next game right away anyway so they should have plenty of time to patch things up and support their release so no need to get your panties all twisted up over some tiny frame rate problems.

I don't know anything about the FPS issue but for the graphics comparison xbox just has a bit more contrast. Is a little bit more contrast going to destroy your experience? People look at these comparisons as if they are so different. As if on ps3 everything is LOD'd or something.

The PS3 has 256 MB of Ram where as the 360 has 512mb of ram .

The PS3 has 512 MB as well, it's just that the PS3's RAM is bound to 2 different chip sets, and the 360's isn't. The 360 can perform more tasks simultaneously (Custom soundtracks+playing a game+party chat, for example).

It does not have quite as much usable ram.  Unless things have changed xbox os uses 32 mb and ps3 uses 50, which is alot better then at launch when it used 120 I believe.

I don't have 700-1500 to spend just so i can make ME3 look 20% prettier, thanks.

Gladly I do, I can't imagine playing ME3 with anything less than 60 fps.

Well if nothing else, reading the OP will help me not to take my clean frame rate demo experience for granted on the xbox. I had no idea the PS3 was having these issues.

I do find it odd there has not been a dev response. This certainly seems like an issue that would warrant one.

Although the lack of response does seem a bit foreboding. Here's to hoping you guys get at least 30 fps which is not only reasonable, I was under the impression it was mandatory for a game to be even considered finished.

I never buy into the claim when they say that you'll never see the difference when it comes to PS 3 vs 360.

There is always going to some kind of difference be it good or bad, superficial or substantial .

lol, apparently, from someone who has managed to get both a copy of the Xbox AND PS3 space editions, the PS3 version has longer loading times as well.

T_T Oh well. I can definitely live, it's just the fraaaamerate man. That's the real issue.

Honestly OP?
The game looks better on PS3 when you look at the comparison you provided.
Aside for different color levels that are caused by a miniscule fact that the video output is slightly different between them and resolved by some simple TV calibration...
What i was saying - when you actually compare the pictures more closely you'll notice that the PS3 has a lot softer shadows than x360 which are jagged and fugly - it's especially noticable in close-up pictures.

nope, Mass Effect 3 looks better on the 360, just like Mass Effect 2 did. Deal with it. 360 has better colors and that cannot be matched with TV calibration, 360 version is also sharper than the ps3 version.

It's funny because of how many titles seem to have more problems on PS3.

Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, CoD Black Ops, Batman: Arkham City to name a few that my friends have had problems with on PS3.

Im starting to think blaming the developers is the wrong idea...

skyrim is fixed now, its exacly the same game 360 and ps3...

nope it isnt, they slightly improved the framerate on the ps3 version of Skyrim, but it is still worse thant he 360 version. and also the 360 version of skyrim has much better graphics, and they didnt improve the ps3 versions graphics at all with any of the patches, im quite sure that they cant even do that if they wanted to.

Check out this video

I watched this video and then I better understood the real reason behind the difference in both 360 and PS3, with the PS3 version inferior to the 360 version.

Choosing to unbox 360 version, not PS3, not PC.

360 in mind. More focus on 360 market, less focus on PS3.

What I heard is that the framerates don't drop so much after the intro... Or maybe the reviewers just got used to it? Heh.

Well, and someone even talked about patch for PS3 release. But this is just rumours.

As someone who doesn't really care too much about graphics or frame-rate, I can tell you I was actually shocked how bad the ps3 version is.

I actually didn't think it was THAT bad, I mean it was annoying and made me have to blink a few unnecessary times, but it didn't affect my gameplay in the demo. Just the start up sequence, I am and was just worried it is going to be all through the game.

All I can do is look at this print out of the ME script - this sucks, the graphics suck, the gameplay sucks on my ME 3 printout!

Why don't you get an Xbox 360?

Because I don't have the money to buy an XBox 360 - why are you so elitist bourgeois pig!

Well - enjoy that print out then.

See i dont notice the difference until i take the time to examine the difference, when you examine the two versions your see the difference. But most people who play to enjoy dont examine or give half a **** about the little details and the fact that its digital foundry thats in the top link in the OP tells me this is all another console war battle. I seen digital foundry's work, they go out of their way to critize the PS3. I dont see a difference with the evidence given unless i examine and look for it it.
