All the best to him. Focusing more on his writing seems to fit perfectly. He has an art for it.

Actually swung by Off-Topic intending to make this thread. Yeah, sad to see it happen.

You evil pessimist haters ... you made him to leave.
Join Obsidian or ... eh, there is not many good RPG developers left. It's 2012 ... the end is nigh!

He's pursuing work outside of video game development.

Oh boy. Here come the page long rants about how EA/Bioware's new direction/whatever caused him/forced him to leave.
But whatever. I want to say thank you for all the great stories he's produced over the years and to wish him luck in the future.

This won't happen because the guy says it was amicable and 100% his decision. Knowles on the other hand, did not say that. However, he did seem to hint towards the opposite - that he'd not liked the new direction.
edit as to the topic: I'm not exactly knowledgeable regarding what Karpyshyn has written, but it is sad to see Bioware's great people leave.
Anyway, best of luck, Drew!

Let's try to avoid those things.
I've read many of his books, but what I'll always remeber from his work at BioWare is the fact that he made Revan. Man, did that story arc give me a headache keeping me in anticipation for many years. It was great

BioWare Stage: Completed.
Mr. Writerman Stage: Begin!
Good luck, Karpyshyn! There will always be room on my Nook for your books.

Well now, I can't say I care about any of Biowares future games if Casey won't be involved. Not until David pulls out of his slump and stops derping around or until Bioware start making top shelf gameplay

What a shame for Bio. All the best to Drew, though

That's very unfortunate. We seem to be losing an awful lot of developers. Even though he was still in semi-retired status as far as I remember, that really is too bad. *sigh*

I liked his work, so I'll be looking forward to what he does next regardless of where it is. BioWare's loss, though.

I already felt Drew's loss when he moved from BioWare Edmonton to BioWare Austin a couple years ago. Always sensed his true passion was writing the great Science Fiction Novel. And golf.
