Currently i can do bronze with 2 players ( with 4 close friends we fly throught it like 15 minutes tops), silver 3 or two even if the second is a close friend, and 3 of us got to wave 9 on gold.
Teamwork is paramount ( as in setting up tech/biotic explosions, distracting guardians, one wears one tears on shields and armor etc) and sticking together always helps.
On a side note... maybe a map or two with a few more waves than normal? like 16....

So what are the benefits of Silver over Bronze. Do you get considerably more XP and Credits?
ALOT MORE.. no seriously.... with my team of friends we easily power level new classes.

i think they should tone down gold just a tad and add platinum. bronze is too easy silver is a nice challenge and gold is tough. but it would be nice to level it out a bit and throw in a platinum. dont think that will happen though.

Gold's a whole other story. I can usually get up to waves 9 or 10 but have never managed to completely beat it. 3 ATLAS mechs simultaneously... not cool!

Thanks. Yeah, I have a feeling that voice chat would be really helpful on Gold. I managed to get through Bronze and Silver with silent stranger players that knew their class roles, but I can see how coordinated crowd control would work well.T B0T wrote...
Gold can be done. Recommended 2 Asari, 1 infiltrator and 1 krogan(any class). All near lvl 20. The Asari have stasis, the inf. can revive while invisible when needed and the krogan are just tough as hell with the "boom stick". Important! .... Save rockets till round 8+..... If you use them in round two .. You are not going to make it! Oh and make sure you are talking, group scatters are needed regularly!

Like alot of others here (others, being the people on the first page because I am lazy and don't wish to sit through 11 pages of comments), I would like to say that the difficulty is just right. I never find myself getting frustrated with the game. This is especially cool, since I am almost exclusively playing this with random people. So for me to not get frustrated in a random match that is pretty hard, is shocking.
Your comments sum up my experience with the game very well. I'm loving the difficulty in MP. Finished my first gold match earlier today. Gold is insanely hard, but also wildly fun and a welcome challenge. I only wish I had been better at pulling my own weight.

To beat Gold, you really need some high level people and some voice-chat coordination. But it's possible, I've done it with random players before.
As for Bronze, you can do that completely alone as long as you're a mid to high-level character. I farm Bronzes with my Vanguard and Infiltrator when I'm bored.

The diificulty a lot tougher than it should be, especially for quick match. Very unbalanced and therefore barely appealing. Dear BW, you should have learned from the Battlefield developing team more than just new cool sounds.
I think its just you and me who feel this way. Other people like losing 80% of their matches lolll....I literally can't play this game without radar and the weapons for a starting player suck as well....

Still though, seems very promising difficulty-wise so far. Even at lvl 19 it's still very possible to die in bronze missions if you don't focus a 100% all the time. Great work Bioware!
If some people do find it too hard though, I think making a new and lower difficulty setting would be a much better way to handly it than nerfing the settings already implemented. That way everyone would be happy.

Bronze - little to no teamwork, equipment, map awareness, or combat techniques required, run around killing enemies at will.
Silver - some teamwork required, use of cover and choke points begins to become important, still have some freedom to roam and hunt enemies, default equipment works but is noticeably weaker.
Gold - good equipment, teamwork, use of cover/dodging/sometimes grabs, and a generally defensive mindset necessary to succeed (with a few class exceptions), team most often bunkers down in a defensible area and only relocates to hunt down stragglers or if the situation becomes untenable.
However, I've been playing gold for the better part of the week now, and sometimes just finding a good group takes longer than actually beating a gold game would (>30 minutes). It seems like 75% of the players who join gold matches are under level 15 (character level), and a good number are also under level 15 N7. While it is theoretically possible for a sub-15 character to contribute in gold, I've never seen it happen, and these people usually end up contributing less than 10% of what I or a similarly leveled person might. As it stands right now, players are forced to go into gold matches with greatly reduced efficiency/chances of success, spend a long time queuing up/building a suitable team, or rely on having friends online at the same time to play with.
Consequently, it would be nice if there was some safeguard against new or low-level players entering the queue for gold matches, maybe through a set minimum level, setting the quick match search to bronze by default for new players, some kind of PSA/warning for new players, etc. While I'm sure some people probably come into multiplayer thinking that they're skilled enough to take on gold with level 1 characters and default weapons, the majority probably cluelessly queued up for a match with the difficulty set to "any challenge" because they were too lazy to look at the options before clicking the search button.
If you can be a valuable addition to your team on gold at low levels with poor weapons and no consumables, more power to you. However, more likely than not, you're just mooching off of the rest of your team for your 60k+ credits at the end. Leveling a character to 20 (or at least 18+) on silver really doesn't take too long - I wish more people would do it. Bronze does get boring after you've gotten your feet wet and acquired better weapons/equipment, but silver is a respectable challenge until you're ready to play gold.
My advice to most new players would be to play bronze until at least character level 10 (I waited until 14), and not play gold until you have a level 18+ character and a good weapon setup from vet/spectre packs earned through silver runs.

Anyone have any tips for beating gold? have only made it to wave 5. Beat silver many times but want to beat gold.
play against cerberus... One person with overload for turret and atlas shields. One with sabatoge to hack turret and atlas after shields are gone. One with Stasis bubble for phantoms and guardians. One whatever u choose. And obviously all high levels... Shouldn't be terribly difficult then.
also make sure u all stay together. It sounds easy and mundane but it can actually be a pain when everyone wants to go in different directions. I've found holding one spot works well
