wow, this was my first time doing multiplayer anything. Not a warm welcome...Go in level 1 on Bronze, everyone else is higher, but really struggled after about 20 minutes because the waves just got too strong for my guy. All I could do was run around and not get sodomized by Brutes who could kill me in one shot. That wasn't fair to my teammates, so I had to stop. I will say this: I expected jerks in multiplayer, and I had guys that tried to keep me alive--thanks you guys!--but I was just too weak when theBanshees and Brutes started swarming in. This would be fun skirmish--especially if you could play the way you do in the game. Also, the lack of breaks kinda sucked. I have mild athritis, and I can't play at that intensity for a half hour on end, so apologies to anyone I cost points from....
Too bad, really, it was kinda cool. Better than I expected.
Seriously, I felt like I went in there with two bullets and a rock...heh heh.

Even with bronze difficulty, I'm pleasantly surprised by how tough it can be.

Difficulty is perfect IMO. Keep it the way it is. Love my human engineer right now.

It's good for you, you are ranged: im talking about vanguard. The difficulty it's not balanced that's all.
I did find vanguard to be tough at first but once you level it up, then it gets easier to use. I use the Asari vanguard more than the human.Alubrand2000 wrote...

But have you tried vanguard on silver and gold or only bronze? Vanguard is the strongest in bronze but not in silver/gold for sure.
I have not used vanguard outside of bronze difficulty. I've leveled it up a little but engineer just suits my play style more. I like to keep my range instead of close encounters. Do you use a lot of your power instead of your guns or do you balance out powers and weapons.Alubrand2000 wrote...

In silver i use weapon most of all and my charge and nova only in secure situations or if surrounded by enemies.

That is the mistake, I believe. Vanguard is not a class that is primarily oriented on using weapons.
I always found it optimal to get the ability to use nova twice by reducing its cost at 50% of barriers and to choose the option to fully recharge barriers upon succesful biotic charge hit. To have the option to hit two additional targets also helps. That way, you perform biotic charge and nova in rapid succession and before the enemies pull themselves together, there is another biotic charge and nova. Even if they actually manage to hit you, you stil got the half of the barriers that protects you from any health damage - and barriers are fully restored after next biotic charge.
The key is to minimize cooldown period by taking only the lightest gear to the battle, like shuriken smg or predator pistol - doesn't really matter, there won't be any need to actually use them. Power efficiency mod also helps. It is also highly recommended to max power force and damage bonuses along with weight capacity.
That way, vanguard is almost invincible on silver. The only problem is banshee, but vermin like brutes or ravagers go down quite nicely. Even phantom is managable - you just hit her with biotic charge, jump backwards from reach of her sword and hit her with nova.
Same applies for gold, even though it requires a little more careful approach.

Vanguards could likely solo Bronze. I wouldn't doubt that there are videos of them doing it. Silver is frustrating unless you find a good group. I haven't tried to make friends with people who actively seek to play with skill, so I rarely bother. Gold is suicidal. If anyone has beaten gold with 3 other random people and no mics then you are a Biotic God.
Anyone else find that few people use mics on the PC? Even one other person with a mic makes a huge difference in terms of effective use of powers and sector control?

Hi everyone,
We wanted to make you aware of something that could impact your experience if you are just getting started: sometimes when people are matched up via Quick Match, the challenge level will be set to Silver, rather than Bronze. If you are just getting started, this could prove to be a very difficult (and likely frustrating!) experience. Therefore, we recommend that when you are starting a quick match you check the difficulty level (top of the screen): Silver and Gold are considerably harder than Bronze and not designed for starting characters.
