The cooldowns on the SP demo are bugged. Your passive increases your CD's by 25% (Dev's have fixed it in retail). Plus you can't choose your own load out. Play the MP. Thats how you CD will be in the retail game.

Multiplayer gives the full representation of the cooldowns, which are nothing like the second part of the Demo.

MP is open to everyone now so play it, and you'll change your mind on the cooldowns.

Vanguard and Adept are amazing when they're played lightweight.

Okay... I was worried from the single player demo but when I can single-handedly chain warp-explosion almost non-stop with my adept carrying an M-8 my worries disappeared. Also had a sub-2 second cooldown on engineer combat drone. My buddy was carrying a scimitar and charging as a vanguard every two or three seconds (kill stealing bastard). Trust me - casters and vanguards are in good shape.

I love the concept of comboing a string of biotic abilities on a target, its a satisfying and brutal form of combat, but is really limited by how using one biotic abilitie triggers the cooldown of ALL ablities(How does that make sense again?), making it pretty much impossible to combo powers unless you have 2 biotics on your squad and use both of their cooldowns.

TL;DR version.
Cooldowns limit the fun of playing as a biotic and powers should have seperate cooldowns..

Did you skip ME2?

Or do I have to say welcome to 2010?

I didnt have a clue that weapon weight had an effect on cooldowns, Thanks for the info everyone.

This is one reason why I say that Bioware FAILED miserably on the SP demo.  By not really communicating this well in the demo, BW is giving gamers a false impression that will negatively impact their first impression of the game and may negatively impact sales and acceptance by new players who are not already committed to the franchise.  That is also a failure of their stated goal to make ME3 accessible to new players.

its true, the SP level doesn't give a fair picture of what combat is like AT ALL.  Once you get into the MP you'll see how it really is.  As an Adept player I know I'll be equipping only a pistol or SMG and barely using it.

Indeed. Would it really of killed them to have a load out window where you could choose the loadout for the second mission?

As a matter of interest, did anyone else feel like Throw has lost its 'oomph'?
Throw was by far my most used power on my adept (throwing guys around like rags was awesome fun) so in the demo I maxed it out, everything into +Force and the last one into double-Throw.

Throw was knocking guys *down* easy enough, even back a little bit, but it was nothing like ME1 or 2. One mob was standing next to a ledge and copped both Throws, and didn't even get thrown off.

Choose talents that decrease cooldown, take lighter weapons. (I have an SMG and a Pistol). Cooldown is no longer a problem. ^_^
