Four warriors, three mages, but what about . . .

I was thinking:
Me: city elf rogue, ranger and dual wielding specialist.
Leliana: Focus on her archery and rogue skills. User her bardic song for party buffs.
Zevran: another duel-wielder with assassin spec also.
Wynne: heal us when we get our butt's kicked
Zevran and I would be the flashy rogue fighters that engage the enemy, while Leliana snipes them down and cheers us on.
Leliana would do all the lock-picking and trap-making/finding. Zev and I can focus on combat and stealth.
Any thoughts?

My advice would be play the game first with a more balance team or just replace Zevran with Sten or Alistair
But in an RPG game, play how you want to !

There is combat stealth also and feining death might help in a pinch.
Actually, this is not going to be my first party. This will be a challenge run for another play-through. My first party will only have one rogue. I just think it would be a strategic challenge to get through the game with this party.

I'm doing it on my second playthrough. As soon as I get the rogues, it's on!
My first play through will be
Me: spirit healer
Leliana: rogue, archer
2 of those 'tanks' I need.
or
Me: spirit healer
Leliana: rogue, archer
Morrigan: DPS mage
1 of those 'tanks' I need

I do not see how you can make it past the early content of the game without a tank.
Unfortunately, I'll be forced to have a tank early on, until I get the rogues. I think you get Zevran later than anyone else, but I'm not sure. I'll probably have Alistair, Morrigan, Wynne in party until i get Leliana and then Zevran.
Until I can get all the rogues, we'll probably be at a decent level so it will be plausible.
Granted, I will be reloading a lot, but hey! I like rogues.

Well its as plausible as my solo with a tank herbalist.
And you thought I was suicidal?
I'm sure a 'most extreme playthrough' thread will open up after the game is out for a while. We should all share stories about our adventures as an all rogue, all warrior, or solo herbalist tank playthroughs.

I saw a 360 playthrough of the Dalish origin: Archer rogue and mage NPC. No tank needed.Arttis wrote...

The problem with this list is that you need another fighter/rogue to get behind enemies for flanking/backstab bonuses which can add up to a lot of damage.

Zevran is a random encounter. Oghran and Loghain are the ones I am pretty sure come last. I don't have the game yet, so I don't know if it is possible to get Oghran earlier, but Loghain doesn't come until after Landsmeet.

What about: Morrigan spider/bear form? Or, have the tank engage while Leliana backstabs/flanks?
I'll probably use my 2 tank version more than the 1 tank version. Certain battles might be better won with a DPS mage instead of the other tank, though.

Cool, so I can do most of the game with the 3 rogue party. Awesome!

What about: Morrigan spider/bear form?
The problem is that you need Morrigan casting debuff spells to weaken powerful enemies so your rogues can actually stand a chance against them. Consider Zevran for the backstab + flanking bonus.
Any warrior will do for the tank but Alistair will be best at tanking (because of sword and shield).

and Oghren whenever the story dictates that you should go to Orzammar
Orzammar is a sidequest location, so you may be able to get there fairly early.
I hope so, I want my Dwarf to be a Berserker at 7.

Awesome, first stop Lothering. Err, then I got to go get morrgan. Proablly end up using Wynne for a short time. Or should I get Morrgan first.....Decisions, decisions.
I thought you had to get Morrigan before Leliana and the others? I want Leliana first (and, not just because she's a rogue

Looks like I'll be using Wynne early game for a mage.

You get Alistair and Morrigan before Lothering.
