how late in the game is Landsmeet?

What about: Morrigan spider/bear form?

The problem is that you need Morrigan casting debuff spells to weaken powerful enemies so your rogues can actually stand a chance against them. Consider Zevran for the backstab + flanking bonus.

Any warrior will do for the tank but Alistair will be best at tanking (because of sword and shield).

I'll probably have Alistair as the tank then.  I can cast the debuff's, though.  This is for my Spirit Healer walkthrough.  I'll heal and cast debuffs, Morrigan will be DPS or shapeshifted, Alistair will soak damage, Leliana will provide ranged attack and bardic song if needed.  I'll alternate her between archery and flanking/backstabbing to help Alistair.  Or, I'll leave Morrigan behind and take Sten or Ohgren for DPS.  I'll switch it up!

For my 3 rogue game, I'll have Wynne casting debuffs and healing.  And I'll have Leliana say a few prayers to the Maker so we don't get our butts creamed =]

Thx, so it's Alistair, Morrigan, then your choice after that?

Awesome, first stop Lothering. Err, then I got to go get morrgan. Proablly end up using Wynne for a short time. Or should I get Morrgan first.....Decisions, decisions.

I thought you had to get Morrigan before Leliana and the others?  I want Leliana first (and, not just because she's a rogue ^_^)

You get Alistair and Morrigan before Lothering.

Thats fantastic news. My planned group will get together quickly.

Human Noble - Warrior/two-hander/Champion

Seems I can get Champion half way through the story which is fine since it should take me half the game to become a "Champion". ;)

My party being (just like in several of the videos):

Alistair - Tank + anti mage
Morrigan - Debuff mage with some healing and a third warrior with shifting if needed.
Leliana- her Bard talents are not redundent with the Champion but having both means I don't need to get buff spells with Morrigan. Leliana's an Archer but Morrigan can help protect her by shifting.

I forgot Dog btw, you get him either during Human Noble origin or Ostagar.

If you go to Lothering after Ostagar you get Sten and Leliana. From then on you have to basically go to the place that has the companion you want, until Landsmeet, where you can get Loghain, or not.

Awesome, as a Human noble I can start the game with Dog. I'll proably use Dog and Wynee until I get my other party members.

I believe you get Wynne from a Circle of Magi sidequest, so by that time you will already have Dog, Alistair, Morrigan and possibly Leliana and Sten.

I am pretty sure Wynne, Shale and Oghran are all acquaired from sidequests. Zevran is a random encounter.

Lothering's the way to go, as you get two companions for the price of one place.

So I'll use Alistair, Morrigan, Dog, until getting Leliana (bye Dog, unless Dog can pick locks!).  I just hope there aren't traps/locked chests before I can get a rogue, unless this is meant as some bonus for those who play as a rogue!?!?

For my all rogue run, this will be the same.  I'll get Leliana after Ostagar, and get Zevran after Lothering.  I'll use Morrigan then until I get Wynne.  So, I'll basically have the 3 rogue party, except for Ostagar and Lothering.

Locked chest are just bonuses for rogues since they are not nessary to beat the game. I don't think you need a rogue in the game if you don't care about locked chests.

Be careful getting Zev. Apparently it is possible to kill him before getting the option to acquire him, heh.

Don't care about locked chests?  Are you MAD?!  They're chests! And they're locked! They went out of their way to make sure I don't get it so it MUST be something I want to have!

its all about loot,

isnt there a option to break locked chests, or blowing them up like in NWN with fireball :)

no offense to people but i think rogues are gay with there back stab and sissy stealth... a line of dwarves with big axes is what we need. to protect my soft blood mage skin ;)

Origin - Wardog if your Human Noble

Ostagar - Alastair, Morrigan and Wardog (latter 2 at end of Ostagar)

Lothering - Leliana and Sten

Broken Circle - Wynne

Paragon of Her Kind - Surely Oghren as he'll be in Orzammar

The Landsmeet - Loghain at end of (wave bubye to Alastair if do)

Shale on a sidequest which I believe you can take up after Ostagar?

Zevran at some point after completing one of the main quests after Ostagar.

Wynne can be obtained during the Broken Circle quest (or killed if you don't want the crazy "holier than thou" mage) although you can talk to her before this I believe in Ostagar but she doesn't join till you are in the Circle Tower during the aforementioned quest.

Oghren I imagine you can get whilst doing the Paragon Of Her Kind quest (which I imagine is set in Orzammar/Deep Roads).

You may want to spec one or two of your rogues in rangers. Here, have a free meatshield. :)

I never remember ever thinking, "I need a tank" when playing BG, BG2, IWD or even the NWN games. Heck I've run into places with a group of wizards and shown whats for. So a couple of questions, cause I'm curious.

1. Is DAO like those previous Bioware games where you can just play what you want ... yes a fighter or some such is nice to have but not necessary?

2. First time I ever heard the term "tank" in this respect was when I first played my first MMO. So the second question is, has that style of game development in regards to encounters and the like been inserted into the RPG type game now, so that DAO will be like controlling a group with MMO type roles?

I am going to disagree here. There are three basic rewards in an RPG:

Levels
Gear
Gold

By making it so only parties with rogues with lock pick have access to chests then only they have access to all rewards in game. Whats really gauling is lockpick takes up a talent, so now its not just any rogue but onle that has sacrificed combat useful talents.

It'd be nice to see a mod that changed Lock pick/ trap disarcm to a skill.

I like rogues, my first play though will be witha rogue but I'd rather fucus talents on stealth and combat.

Do I think a rogue heavy party will work? Yes, better than mage or fighter heavey since it will have access to more content and rewards.

You may want to spec at least one rogue in a ranger so that you can summon meatshields:P
