This is an excellant marketing stunt, it actually gets gamers involved and instead of some little figurine or DLC you actually get rewarded with the game.(even though no copies are above Australia right now) :(

Oh, this is totally going to end well. I see no flaws with this marketing strategy at all.

I can imagine walking along the street and finding a random copy on the floor. XD
I can also imagine people bundling on top of eachother and fighting to get to it!
XD
*looks outside window* OMG!!!

It has already worked. Stuff like that spreads really well on sites such as Reddit.

Do you think that they actually care if a single person gets to find the space edition of ME3?

I can see many things going wrong with this. My money is on that none of the copies will work after going through severe heat cycles.

Something tells me the games will be parachuted from the baloon BEFORE they exit the atmosphere. Just a thought.

In case it hasn't been mentioned already...

The Imperial Japanese Army approves of this marketing stunt.

Amusing - it appeals to my space geek side. I hope the SF balloon makes it to Oahu, preferably with a convenient landing on my lanai.

I thought they were strapping mass effect copies to turkeys and then releasing them from a helicopter?

WKRP in Cincinnati FTW. :o

Well, it is at least something different. The point is not to give copies away early, but to simply raise awareness of the game and this will no doubt do that.

I can already see the environmentalists b*tch about the plastic copies that land in the ocean.

I'll bet none of those copies are PC.

Me too, and I wonder how many actually reach the ground unharmed.

The shuttle doesn't technically ever leave the atmosphere, either. The universal definition of space is an altitude at or above 300,000 feet. Most weather balloons are capable of going higher than this.

PM from Jarett Lee from my question regarding a fast confirmation from him.

''Yes legit, yes (technically we "are" EA :)''

Its real, its no joke.

This feels like hardcore trolling? I mean why would EA give anything for free? LOL

Anyway, today they may be throwing Mass Effect 3 from the sky but in the future they will be throwing our souls!
