This thread shall not die. If they have high-res textures, I'll be extremely proud of BioWare for actually thinking about the PC gamers for once.
Agreed, just look at what rocksteady did with the Unreal 3 engine.

A full high res texture pack, and by full I mean covering every texture in the game, which includes all characters (major and NPC), weapons, environment, skyboxes, decals, and everything else, you're looking at easily 1GB+. That's the reality of it.
1GB ist's like nothing. Considereing some games nowadays use 15-20GB of disk space...
His response was to something he read out of context. Also games nowadays don't have only graphics, they have dialog files and other sounds, which can actually end up taking up more space than the actual graphics in a high narrative game like mass effect.

If it comes to that, this is the kind of DLC I'll pay for (decided that weapons and outfits really isn't worth it).

I did indeed, the simple fact is; you're wrong, the texture was indeed there: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/131/index/7738642

Please don't say that...
Uncompressed textures are not extra work and should be expected in 2012 and as such should not cost extra money. Don't give EA ideas.
In others news I'm happy about the better support, if it turns out to be true.

Neogaf posted yesterday that the demo texture files were 1/3 the size of comparable files in "ME2":
neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php
So this news is kinda obvious. They had to cut a few things to meet the demo size requirements. HD textures obviously being one of those things.
To the best of my knowledge the demo was accidentally released to XBL dashboard beta user's back in November, and there are various changes that can be observed between the youtube video's of the leaked demo and new video's of the "official" demo.
Things like lighting, graphical glitches, facial animations, audio elements, textures, are all visable even to the "un-suspecting" eye.
Doesn't really matter to me, I'm sure BioWare and ME3 will exceed my expectations.

Dragon Age Origins was 20 gigs. Old Republic is 20 gigs and its an MMO which is constantly updated. My Wow folder is around 40gigs (havent updated it in forever) harddrive space really shouldn't be a problem to a PC gamer just saying.

Why in gods name would you pay for them just repacking textures they already have done? Most textures start as high resolutions and then are downscaled to meet specific requirements. It would be ridiculous to even consder paying for something like textures that requires no work on their part.

I'd like some word on this too. The Trend these days is high res packs, even RAGE got its own. Lets hope bioware will either make them available or this news is true and it comes in the box.
Rage has yet to get its much touted high res pack, most likely won't either. But Skyrim did!

@likchan The final edition of the game will have hi-res textures included in it, no additional pack will be required to download.
