High-res textures included in ME3 (can we get a dev to confirm this?)

Or do what CryTek did with Crysis 2 (also another EA game). They released an 11.5 GB texture pack for users to download separately if they wanted to. Worked, even in DirectX 9! The game looked far better with the pack added on.

Theres no way it will already be in the game when you consider the recommended specs. If high res textures were in those specs would be higher. Just sayin.

Its texture pack or bust, the fact that some random marketing dude on twitter says its going to be in the game makes me very sure the guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

High res textures do not require a powerful graphics card.

Um... well "powerful" maybe not depends on what you mean, but it would certainly require more then what vanilla ME2 would need, which is what the specs are.  More then 512mb video memory for damn sure if the game as it is now is barely squeaking by on that much to the point it had to cut **** like holstering animations.

Again, no. 512 is the entire Xbox's memory, not just video. A below average PC has at least 512 of video memory, plus 4GB of system memory. See the difference?

Perhaps you don't understand the difference between minimum and recommended specs.  Recommended means run at least close to full settings at a good (meaning >30fps) frame rate.  If ME3 had high resolution textures a 512mb card would not be able to handle it with that performance. Not unless you turned off AA and dynamic shading and ****, but then that wouldn't be recommended settings.

Just go look at the performance change that occures when you install DA2's high res textures.

There will be a slight hit to a 512 card nothing more, system memory will pick up the slack.. And most PC are running far higher specs, this is a non issue. DA2 performance hit was due to DX11 tesselation, not the textures. The only problem that exists is in your head.

I second this. Play Arkham City with tessalation on and off and see the performance hit vs just having the textures set to ultra vs med or high. You'll see the same thing as DA2.

On another note, I doubt there will be DX11 ever. ME series runs on Unread Engine 3.5, which you need 3.75 to support DX11. Also, I believe Bioware's licensing agreement with Epic prevents them from having low level access to the engine code, which I think you need in order to add DX11.

The Crysys 2 texture pack was only 1.6 GB.

@desert_runner1 #MassEffect3 already features high resolution textures! No pack needed!

@masseffect Will you guys be putting up an High res texture pack for this as you did with DA2?

lol i think we need to phrase the question properly or something..this could mean anything

It would be so much easier if we could use pictures to explain

Hopefully we can mod the game like we did with Mass Effect 2. My Mass Effect 2 game textures look ASTRONOMICALLY better than the stock textures. TexMod saved my ME2 experience from being graphically terrible.

Now can you throw in some dynamic lighting in the game? It's 2012 and you are STILL using static lighting in the Unreal Engine? Have you seen Battlefield 3? Frostbite can have many dynamic lights in a scene and the game runs perfectly fine at ABOVE 60 frames per second on an outdated GTX 480. Also on my GTX 460. And runs above 40 FPS on my old GTX 285 on Medium/High details.

ME3 is terrible, graphically speaking.

Yeah, Texmod's great if you want to spend 15 minutes waiting for it to load each time.

Someone seriously needs to rewrite that program.

Battlefield 3 was built on the PC; a rarity today.

I means that I (and the other cynics here) were right: the basic textures are considered "high res."

Superb.

Wrong, Battlefield 3 started as a PC being the lead platform, then they switched to consoles so they could finish the game faster.

I'm pretty sure the marketing guy who handles Twitter believes that the game has high res textures now, so that's why he said we are getting them with the main game.

Fair enough, but Mass Effect 3 was *never* on PC as the lead, as I thought my post made very clear. The dynamic lighting parts were developed while BF3 was PC-lead, so the switch meant nothing.

Reread what he said. If it had been true, they would have publicized it as an actual texture pack. He's a PR guy; he has to write stuff to deflect, and that was very professional deflection. Mark my words, there's no texture pack coming.

I know!  Mine takes about 5 minutes to load but it is totally worth it.  I couldn't go back to the vanilla game.

Well, at the very least, maybe this will force a Dev comment to clear up the confusion.

I think you need to reread it, because he said the high res textures are included with the game, which would mean there is no pack and thus nothing to publicize. It's still ambiguous what their definition of high res is, so it's still to soon to call it either way.

What I find ironic is that we've had countless threads requesting if a high resolution texture pack is possible and important community people like Chris Priestly instead of trying to at least send the message to the devs, he comments on useless threads or just locks troll threads. They are ignoring us. Hell look at my old thread, 16 pages and still nothing http://social.biowar...index/9232655/1
I even wrote his name on the title and STILL nothing. What we got was a locked thread by Stanley because console trolls came and ruined the thread.

all they need to do is say yes or no it is pretty simple.
