Experienced players know before the last wave hits to be at the extraction point. There's basically really 2 points to cover, and there's 4 of you...pretty easy, straightforward.

This.

I usually keep charging around to keep the goons off, but at times have also missed the extraction zone. One good way to deal with atlas is let them appear 2-3 at a time and pick them all off with a single missile.

I really hate it when folks miss the extraction zone.  That's like not taking free money.  What's really fun is when someone goes off, dies, then cries for a Infiltrator to come get them :)

Most of the time with an Atlas you've got folks that can strip defenses effectively so they're not a problem.  If you're playing on higher difficulty levels the odds that almost everyone has plenty of spare rockets means you don't have to be too cautious with their use.  YMMV.

On White base yeah everyone should go too the extraction, plenty of cover but on the other map I always stay just inside the left building since the enemies always attack from the right. That way I can completely hault the advance of any enemies coming around the outisde and my teammates only have too deal with enemies coming from inside the building. Then I sprint into the extraction usually around 15secs.
I admit I used too wait till 10secs until i screwed up once and missed extraction. 15-20secs gives you lots of time too get in there.

Personally, I like to stay out of the extraction zone till there is about 10-20 seconds left, but I still stay near it. Reason being that if everyone is huddled in the zone and you get swarmed, you are screwed, but if you stay out a bit from it, you have a place to fall back to and then push out of again if need be.

You speak the truth, though most of the time we aim to fall back at around the 30 second mark. If everyone else is already there though I'll go since it is better to stick with the team.

I'll do this, depending on my class/race. If I'm a Vanguard, I'm only carrying a Katana for minimum weight, and I can't do anything if I'm in the zone. I'll just Charge around until there's 20 seconds or so left. Same with a Krogan Soldier. Run around meleeing things until the last few seconds. Otherwise, I'll usually chill in the extraction zone.

However, I think a slight change should be made: the extraction shuttle should arrive with about 10-20 seconds left on the timer, and say something along the lines of "We're under heavy fire! We need to pull out soon" so newer players that don't realize they need to be INSIDE the zone at 0:00 or else they don't 'make it'.

LoL I know, generally speaking at around 30-45 sec everyone should move back to the extraction if not there already, safe not sorry :)

Yeah, I usually wander, though not too far from the extraction point until the last 20-30 seconds. It must be a sight for some to see me legging it back to the extraction point with about 5 Cerberus goons in tow.

I prefer to cover our asses before we break for the EP, sitting in the EP can get you swarmed if you don't play it carefully. Especially true for the EP on Ghost, that place is a deathtrap. Don't worry, I always break for the EP with plenty of time left.
I don't mind when others do the same, but it does kind of Irk me when they don't even attempt to make it for the extraction.

It's fine on the icebase, pleny of wide open firelanes. But in slums there's not enough cover and the enemy have the advantage of highground.

This...

Noveria the only thing you might have to wrroy about is cerebus troops rocketing up from below behind you...Otherwise simply camping behind the fighter is effective enough. You can see everyone clearly and have easy shots at them  (you can actually hit the stairs going DOWN into the Cerebus base).

Banning though? On Silver or higher, you cant camp. Not possible at all since you'll get stomped and they'll have major high ground..

Another Silver run in Firebase Bronze where the damn Vanguard didn't make into the LZ on time.

Man, I've had so many yahoos run off and get geeked on the extraction wave or just not bother to show up to the LZ. It's a real PITA.

I find the slums LZ harder to defend at the LZ then the Noveria one. I did however pull off a silver extraction from both. At the time I was running my engineer tweaked for recharge with AoE fire and chain overloads. A constant barrage of flames curving behind enemy cover with the occasional drone thrown out does much to keep them from pressing an attack effectively. That and fire chews up those Atlases rather well.

There's no need to go to the LZ right away, but I always try to start heading there when the clock gets down to around 30 seconds or so. Then, if you need to take anyone out, you've got some time to spare.

Just don't die. I hate it when there's about 20 seconds left on the clock and somebody is off on the opposite end of the map and gets killed, because then you're stuck, there's no possible way to get the full XP.

Yes, it so annoying and frustrating.

:D I may occasionally yell this out when the LZ countdown is around the 30 second mark.

This is getting annoying. One player is screwing everyone else out of a decent game and a nice bonus because they want to pot a few more enemies. There really should be a punishment for not making it to the EZ, or perhaps a straight up bonus for those who are in the EZ at the time of extraction.

Every few games I join there's always the one person who can't seem to understand the chatter, and what that timer is for, and what that blue zone is for, and why everyone else seems to be standing there.. No, they're more interested in headshots and killcounts. Too often these same players don't help with the hacking, or covering a team mate when they're busy disabling something. For a co-op mode, there really isn't much of it.

A classic moment for me was when I was hacking all by myself in a team of 4. Everyone else assumed it was funny to shoot the endless waves of Cerberus guys coming at us.

But... but... I am a vanguard and just feel so useless with a shotgun in my hands, constrained to that tiny circle of extraction while my team is being shot to death by centurions and whatnot from three different angles....

I must admit it, I go charging enemies also when im a vanguard. But I make allways sure that I can come back and never charge after theres only 0:30 secs in the clock. Also I have usually a medi gel pack or two with me so I can revive myself.

I never go straight to the LZ. A good team should hold out at the entrance to the stairwell/near the ladder in Noveria and right at the crossroads between "the pit" and the LZ on Mars. It allows clearer lines of sight and fire to be established by the players and not cram them in an area with limited cover and essentially be in a textbook killzone.

Soon as the 30 sec mark comes near, grab ammo and fallback the extra 20 meters or so to the LZ and hold out for the next 25-20 seconds. Makes it much easier and less chance of random shenanigans killing everyone.

The problem in this is that if the whole team is out of the extraction zone and if the enemy gets there, it so hard to get back

On bronze its so easy there really isn't an excuse not to just stand there waiting. Silver and gold however..

I hate it when team mates don't realise that there is a time limit to kill those blue targeted enemies and just look surprised when we fail the mission..

On Bronze/Silver I always stay on the right side of the extraction point and fight from there while the rest of the team fights from the point. It changes the enemy spawn points so they can't flank us as well, and just makes things lots lots easier.

On Gold on Ghost I always have the team fight from the building straight across the map from where you spawn on the left corner, then we blow a missile and take out any atlas' in the way as we run for the extract point at around 30 seconds. It's a much more defensible area (Enemies don't have height advantage allowing them to shoot you over your cover.

Allmost missed a few extractions today coz I was having too much fun and noticed the clock running low on the last seconds. Still made it in there every time :)
