the mass effect 3 multiplayer was a disappointment. before you guys start bashing me with insults read why i felt it was a disappointment.
Remember Fear 3? The multiplayer of fear 3 is similar to the multiplayer in the mass effect 3; all you do is take on enemy AIs with other people online. This gets boring after 2 to 4 hours. Bioware; it seems you guys do not think far...sorry if this seems as an insult to you; I am just blunt. I will tell you what makes your multiplayer appalling. Do you know why Killzone 3 or the new Modern Warfare are still being played despite how old they are?? It is because the multiplayer is A TRUE multiplayer. You are playing against other players in a team of other players.
Your multiplayer does not pit players against players. Everyone at some point wants to snipe a human player. AIs get killed as one progresses through the story. We do not need boring AI killing on multiplayer mode.
The current multiplayer mode uploaded is a waste of time. Hopefully, you are doing something about this. If not...mass effect 3 would get washed up just the way fear 3 got washed up.
Yes, Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 have been appalling disappointments, I mean, most of the time you're just playing against AI opponents and there's no great gameplay or tension or funny/terrifying moments at all. [/sarcasm]. And that's just one example.
I will agree that this sort of play can eventually get old, but for most people that lasts much, much longer than 2-4 hours. Some people also prefer killing AI to killing real people, for various reasons ranging from not being able to handle other people's reaction time/unpredictability to simply not liking to "attack" real people, even in games.
There are a small subsection of people who love multiplayer so they can make other people upset, and then there are the group who find only "true" multiplayer challenging enough for them. However, the first group shouldn't really be catered for by anybody barring maybe Ultima Online
But I do not think that their multiplayer is a waste of time or appalling at all, it is simply a different type of multiplayer that appeals to different subsections of the player base than Modern Warfare or Killzone 3. It's a pity that it doesn't appeal to you, since you are obviously a fan of the series.
Perhaps they will follow the L4D model and add an optional mode so that a "shadow team" of players can control and spawn "specials" on the opposing team, letting Phantoms, Guardians, Atlas (could be the Tank equivalent), Combat Engineers, Nemesis, etc be played briefly by the shadow team, letting them then randomly be assigned a new special when the next wave comes. I can't see an Alliance vs. Alliance multiplayer being designed, as that makes no sense in the overarching storyline of ME3 and the multiplayer has already been stated to be part of that storyline, albeit an optional part.

1. Random buyable crates for upgrades are bothersome, you never really get anything good unless you repeatedly buy the veteran crates, but even then I've gotten "Male Soldier class" cards almost every single time.
2. Vanguards are heavily geared towards melee, or heavily inclined to use melee. Just give them a sword already.

This is not sarcasm when I say that was a heartwarming post.CerebraLArsenaL wrote...
Bioware, I offer a humble "my bad" and sincerely thank you for multiplayer. For those who may not know, I have mild Cerebral Palsy (nothing to do with my forum name) and it makes it extremely hard to play shooting games, and mp shooting games are masochistic torture, what with all their kill/death ratios and such. But finally I actually have people requesting me as their teammate, and feel useful....i level at a good pace and i dont feel like the cinder block chained to the team's feet. I begged and begged my CoD playing friends to play (one of whom lives in the same house and gave the excuse that basically I had too much of a nerdgasm so he wouldnt) but they wouldnt and I played with randoms --- for 12 straight hours...TY!
At first I was put off because people kept dropping out when I joined matches (just started playing sunday) but when I found some people it was extremely fun
Good work Bioware

But one thing that is really bothering me is watching peoples' faces. They look very well put together, but then they move like a poorly made puppet. Is THAT better in the actual game? Because if not I will not be buying it. I like to be distracted by the Uncanny Valley as little as possible during a game.
