I was really psyched to have acess to all weapons until I realized this made Charge cooldown a real pain. I want to be able to use Tempest, Mattock and Evi or Scmitar. Would this be too much you think with upgrades and skills I will still be able to carry around a few weapons and still have Charge as my go to skill? I kinda also wanted to carry around a Sniper but that seems unrealistic now.

You can reduce the weights and increase your carry capacity with mods, armour bonuses and passive skills. Apparently weapons have varying weights also, so all this together will help reduce cool-down times.

Edit: From what I've read so far the lighter weapons do less damage and the heavier weapons do more damage. So a shotgun with a high base weight  will do more damage than a shotgun with a low base weight. Thus balancing whether your damage comes from weapons or powers.

I would suggest using 2 guns (although apparently Shepard has greater weight capacity than the MP characters), especially since Shotguns seem to be the heaviest items.

What Palathas said.
I was really disheartened when I tried the single player demo and found I couldn't get the charge cooldown lower than 20 seconds or so. Went into the multiplayer and having a chance to actually mess with the loadouts was fantastic... Carrying around just a shotgun gets charge down to a 4.5ish second cooldown. It's phenomenal. Talenting for reduced weapon weight in the game will allow you to carry multiple guns and still have a relatively short charge cooldown I'd assume.

Invest points into weight capacity and you should be able to carry more weapons with less of a penalty.

You can't have a perfect character, which I find to be a better system, honestly. Experiment around for the type of Vanguard you enjoy more. (Personally, I lean more power heavy in Multiplayer and just carry an assault Rifel around. No real need for shotgun thanks to Nova and Melee improvements.)

I'll have to experiment around myself to see if my Sheppard goes the same route.

There's also a perk that gives the Vanguard a 1/4 chance when using a Biotic Charge to have ZERO cooldown. That's a 1/4 chance to Charge again after Charging. Forget cooldown if Charge is all you're concerned with.

You can also reduce weight for a weapon by upgrading it.

but a faster, lighter shottie my have a higher dps due to higher fire rate.  This is what I'm hoping, as that will make it accessible to the vanguards again.  A heavy shottie which negatively AND significantly impacts our recharge rates but has high impulse (immediate, per shot) damage is not going to go well when we are charging into a group after using nova.  An infiltrator may like a heavy shottie for sneak up and instant whackage.  So, hopefully the low weight/low damage can be offset by higher fire rate, like the scimitar was in ME2 (LOVED that shottie for vanguard close in work... HATED the evicerator, though the evicerator was great for infiltrator sneak work).

As posters above have mentioned, you can ditch weight to gain cooldown. Which works out pretty well for Vanguards, since they only need one weapon.

How will you spec Charge and Nova in single player?

Like Dave has said, the way that Vanguards have been set up in the demo, you dont need to have more than a shotgun.

Just at 11 I can do a Charge/Nova combo and deal with Phantoms with some ease on Bronze and can make meat out of just about anything else without any attempt to strip defenses. The only enemy type I have some trouble with taking out quick are Guardians and I have Shockwave for pushing the shield aside for a shell or two.

The best way, imo, to run the class would be ultralight with a medium shotgun only to get the best cooldown bonus you can along with what your powers give.

I hear you but I really enjoy switching to different weapons. It makes the experience better for me for some reason. I might just have to cope with a little longer cooldown.

This...I am controlling the battlefield in MP.  It is a bit risk/reward at times but if you have a soldier or sentinel with you in long range cover...it is awesome.  Just hopping around blowing **** up with Nova.

Have you guys tried doing the reload trick? I tried doing it but it seems that it can't be done anymore as after reloading you can't cancel the following animation after the click anymore. It might just be me so you guys can try it out for yourselves.
