If you have Xenos Races, their powers and weights are different, usually ending up to be better shock troopers, tanks, and casters then the Human balanced ones.
Besides the Drell relying on mobility (their evasion acrobatics end up getting them killed), the only class I would even out with the Xenos counterparts is the Vanguard.
It doesn't matter, better people can and will play with anything, but for now I can tell my Krogan Soldier does everything I want better than my Human Soldier. My Asari Adept's stasis bubble spam can do a little more than my singularity, not a lot of people are taking advantage of those Singularity setups.
Regardless, I like the system, I'm just going to be pissy for the first week because I have to get to level 20 on more then one class from the start, without compensation. I would have at least liked to know those who spent more time, or got their N7 Rank past 50 got five Veteran packs or something.

I've gotten 2 Human Female Sentinels (I play engineer) and 3 shuriken SMGs in a row from veteran packs. It's a really crappy system. If you're going to make it random at least make sure it doesn't give us the same thing over and over.
I've gotten over six Male Soldier ones, the reason is each consecutive unlock gives customization unlocks.
My Cerberus colors are pretty.

I will say they should be unloked when you help that race in the single player , a think like , ok , now krogans are your friends and join to de battle
i have to agree this would be easier i havent gotten single damn other race except my Turin and my krogan soldier{on my other xbox live account}

I like it the way it is, sure its frustrating to progress the way you want too, but it gives you a reason to keep playing, as opposed to unlocking everything than done.
Yeah I like it for the same reason...that and I kinda like all the classes too I'm cool with wathever I get to play with.

I don't mind the system. A few more focused packs would be nice, like a "Weapon pack" that costs more but you are certain to get a weapon or weapon upgrade, or a "character pack" that is certain to either have a new race or an experience card, but costs the most...

For what its worth I've been playing class/races I never would have played otherwise.

I'd break it down even more, personally, have specific weapon packs, a lot of the frustration, at least on the weapon side of things is getting weapons and mods for weapons you have no interest in using. It would be a lot better to simply buy a "shotgun pack" for your vanguard so even if you don't get the gun or w/e you wanted at least you'll get something relevant to your needs. You know, as opposed to continuously getting sniper rifles on your vanguard.

Or getting Asari Adepts for your Vanguard when you think Asari are dumb.

I hope to God the randomness is just for the demo. It would be way to frustrating to deal with it permanently. Bioware, please take a cue from BF3 and make the weapons for each category unlock progressively as well for the races within the individual classes.
not really. I for example HATED my human vanguard but loved my drell vanguard with the Pull/nade combo. I like it this way. It encourages you to NOT get bogged down with one setup but to mix it up a bit, unlike BF3 where i really don't want to play anything but my support and engineer because they're so buffed out compared to the rifleman/scout.

You do realize that once something is unlocked you don't have to unlock it again...right?

As far as i know it gives you more spare ammo and maybe something else, but the change isn't that great.ME3Shepard wrote...
Could someone explain to me exactly what the different levels of the guns do? I have not seen any notable increase for my avenger even tho I have it level 5.

Recruit Weapons: mods and okay weapons.
Veteran: the big toys.
Recruit Items: everything, as is.
Veteran: double or triple helpings of everything.
Recruit Characters: Customization options and Human classes.
Veteran: Alien races and classes.
There, Bioware, problem solved!

Personally, I am actually cool with the weapons and gear unlocks, my main concern is the class unlocks, let say you are at a high level then only you are lucky enough to unlock a new class, you will be less motivated to play the new class from the start.
The classes/species, should be all unlocked from the beginning.
Or maybe instead they unlock at whatever your current highest level is with any other class. Like if I'm playing an Asari at level 20 and then unlock a Drell, the Drell unlocks as level 20.
