Did you play ME1? Health recharging didn't become combat ready until the advanced game. Glad they are actually punishing players for taking risks!
ME2 was too newb friendly.
Regenerating health is gone...

Sorry. Too busy resting behind cover to give your suggestion a shot.
I did play Mass Effect 1. The combat wasn't great but at least they got the right idea regarding health and shields.
