There is one very sad scene that I can recall from the leak, though.

Could be because I finished Mass Effect 2 the same day as I played the demo, but for me, the intro was pretty much perfect.
EDIT:^ofcourse it's the music?? Try watching any movie without it's music and see how you're affected emotionally.

Yes, the look on Sheps face added to the experience for me, his look mirrored my own feelings.....Sheps facial expressions are a vast improvement...anger, hurt, etc... I enjoyed the more natural reflections.jreezy wrote...
The music is what really brought that scene to another level for me. I get goosebumps. The look on Shepard's face when the ship blows up is a noticeable improvement when conveying emotion.

That music was amazing. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one that thought it improved that scene by a lot.jreezy wrote...

And the SHepards facial reaction.Without those two things, the scene would have lost alot of it's "magic".JeffZero wrote...
I felt it. But I think half the reason is the music.

Yes, the music certainly adds...though for myself I think it was more the Shep and the kid locking eyes, then Shep watching the kids last moments play out and the expression on his face.StartOrange wrote...
Although the flood of haters claim otherwise, I thought the intro was good. I shivered when the "UK headquarters" view came on. And when I saw that Reaper land... *shivers again*

I agree the Demo is good, I'm enjoying it....though I really miss my favorite weapons, having some hell adjusting to these weapons...I exclusively use the Widow and Locust in ME2, so used to them, am hoping and praying I can access them in the game itself.

Yes, the music was beautiful and wrenching. Shepards facial animations are far improved over what they were, but it was the little kid itself that ruined it for me. Especially the way he was just shoehorned into the escape from the building. He was great right at the beginning, but as soon as he opened his mouth he was dead to me. They needed to have a much better voice actor for the child. He should have been a lot more scared than he was. Instead, he was just emotionally dead inside. I didn't care about the kid at all.
I am looking forward to seeing more of Shepard's expressions. Especially when my Thane-mancer Margurite is reunited with him, or when my Garrus-mancer is reunited with her turian.

I don't know, that may be a personal how we react to traumatic events ourselves connection or dis-connection, whichever the case maybe...I would have felt much less connected to him myself if he was falling apart, but I'm a person who goes into immediate shock (dead inside) and so appear quite calm and in control at the time....my fall apart and shakes don't start until the immediate danger is gone....So that maybe a personal experience thing...who knows.mythlover20 wrote...
I'm going to have to go against the grain and say that I didn't feel anything for that kid at all.

I'm not good at sensing sarcasm and it seems like it should be. So I'll just take it that way.

Not 'cause of the kid.
But the writers of Bioware actually thought it would give the player an emotional impact.
Pathetic.
I hope whoever came up with the idea of the kid burns. Stupid cliche move.

I found it something Bioware would have shoved in; How do we get new players emotionally involved.... that's it, lets show a kid being killed.
Hello, world coming to an end here!!!
(I hate forced emotion shoved onto me)

Actually I found it more touching the second time I played the demo with a Femshep (completely renegade in my mind), it somehow reminded me of Ripley and Newt from Aliens, only that this time newt didn't survived the event.
That scene works wonderfully to point out the most important thought shepard is probably having that day: "I failed".
