Seriously! I've seen more Mattocks than Avengers, and I've gotten so many Veteran packs, but all I've gotten are stupid pistols, THREE Scimitars, and like five million sniper and SMG ammo upgrades. When am I going to get something... useful? For a soldier, at least.

Mattock really wasn't all too great..

at least for my Engineer. I got it too.

But you can't effectively kill the crap that gets close to you with it.

Keep buying Veterans, it will pop. It's uncommon, not rare. Rares are yellow I believe. I just got my Claymore and Revenant today, the last two days I got the Asari Adept and Krogan Soldier (starter).

I got it on my second Veteran pack. It's not that godly. Well, when a Phatom or Guardian are right in your face.

I wouldn't say better so much as less specialized. The Avenger is much more versatile than the Mattock.

I have to agree, it does work better.  I just unlocked my Revenant today, but I kept missing out on points.  I can't wait to use the CAR in the full game.

Just got another Veteran Pack... ANOTHER SCIMITAR, and two pistol upgrades that I DON'T care about.

They seriously need to fix this system. Nothing unlocks the way it should.

Mattocks aren't that great. They've been nerfed since ME2. The Avenger is just as effective imo, if not more so.

No I got a stupid Salarian Infiltrator. I want a good assault rifle, or at least an upgrade. But no, I need to get upgrades for guns that I don't use.

I got it in my first recruit pack and the second pack I got a Asari adept. I guess some of us are just lucky. My advice is to get the cheap packs, all my great stuff comes from there and it doesn't cost much too.

Avenger + scope + stabilizer = compensated accuracy, more ammo, higher firerate, pretty much the same damage = win

Got one too^^ all except the krogan (and fourth row classes)

The only thing that starts to really annoy me, i now have a predator 8 and enough smg mods leveled that once i get an usefull one, its instantly overkill-.-

I got a mattock from a veteran pack.

I like the mattock better but my regular rifle is level 3, and my mattock is level 1, so it doesn't really seem worth it at this point.
