Putting them in order is difficult!

Garrus and Tali are both up top for sticking with me through everything. I liked their loyalty to Shepard. Working with Cerberus wasn't exactly where either of them wanted to end up, I'm sure, but they trusted Shepard enough to at least tolerate them for the greater good. Kaidan's there because, well, I just really like him. He's kind, respectful, and not bad looking.

Liara's an interesting character because I enjoy watching her development. The events of the series have really shaped her character, from the rather innocent loner scientist to the more calculating and distant woman we see working for the Shadow Broker. I'm curious to keep watching her grow.

Chakwas is my favorite crew member. She's loyal to Shepard to whatever end, like Garrus and Tali. I honestly wouldn't have expected her to join Cerberus, having spent so much time with the Alliance. I loved when she got to let her hair down a bit after giving her the brandy as well.

It's tough, because for example, I love Wrex as a character, but barely used him as a squad mate. I like most of the squad mates from both previous games except Kaiden, Ashley, Zaeed, Jacob, and Miranda. I barely used them at all throughout the games (I killed Kaiden off in every single play-through). It's really hard to pick a top 5 but... If I HAD to choose I'd say:

Such a difficult choice to make. Every character is great in their own way.
1. Garrus - he is someone who is by your side no matter what. He doesn't question your judgement or motives and follows you loyally to the ends of the earth. The truest bro in the galaxy.
2. Samara - probably the only person who could hold a candle to Shepard's sacrifices. She is powerful and mysteriously beautiful, and once you thaw away her cold exterior, her friendship is sincere.
3. Wrex - no explanation needed! Another great friend and eternal ally who truly believes in implementing change for his people. Powerful, noble, and the ultimate badass.
4. Mordin - one of the most interesting characters in the ME universe. His quirkiness is endearing while his inner turmoil is sympathetic. Another teammate who I feel really respects and befriends you by the end of ME2.
5. Joker - let's face it: the game wouldn't be the same without him. He's so much more than just comic relief and serves as a great companion to Shepard's seriousness. A great friend who's with you until the end.

 1. Sovereign - Ancient, arrogant and almighty, need I say more? 
2. Mordin - Who doesn't love the constant chattering of our scientist salarian? 
3. Liara - Smart, caring and well developed. 
4. Joker - The galaxy's best socially awkward pilot! 
5. Conrad Verner - Am I really the only one who loves this guy?
