The cover system

Or, I'll be kneeling behind cover and see an enemy coming around the corner or simply get shot and would like relocate, so I press space to "unlatch" but instead I lunge onto the adjacent cover (where ever I'm pointed thinking that's where I'll stand up at so I can starting running).
I'll go "WTF? NO...I want to get OUT of cover!" and press space again, lunging/rolling back to where I was. Like I'm doing squat thrusts back and forth. Then the enemy is right in front of me when I remember I must instead use the arrow keys. Only problem is I have to "walk" from being latched onto cover to wherever I would like to start moving to, instead of rolling away from cover.
Does anyone else have trouble with it? I find it irritating. Boy do I miss ME1 in that regard.

they should use the same button for everything BUT you dont ever move into a cover position from a sprint. you need to press the everything-button again to take cover or a double movement tap. you should also be allowed to move out/in of cover using a double movement tap (on pc its easy, same with thumb stick I believe though I dont give a sh it about consolers who like to fk up pc games). atm instead of taking cover I just LOS since its terribly implemented in multiplayer, same with single player but the games isnt as fast pace so it doesnt show up as much.
I use LOS too instead of the cover mechanic, it is waay too 'sticky'. Also trying to flee and hitting cover or reviving teammates but repeatedly bumping into cover gets annoying.
I wish they can bring back ME1's crouch so we have another option for cover.

sprint, hold forward key + space. once sprint is activated you dont need to hold space down.
evade, hold sideway backward key + press space
take cover, hold forward key + space.
take cover from sprint, press space when close to cover
jump over cover from sprint, double tap space while sprinting at cover
jump over cover while in cover, hold forward key + space.
turn cover (you have to be in cover), hold sideway key + press space
jump to cover from cover, hold space + double tap in direction of cover.
look out of cover (to fire), use the sideways key OR forward key.
interact/activate, hold space while mouseover target.
move out of cover, hold backwards OR double tap backwards, OR double tap sideways if at cover threshold (i.e looking around the corner).

Shift for Sprint, Space for cover, single Space for leaving cover(or jumping over depending on direction), Double-Tab Space for switching cover.
The most important point is (to be able) to separate sprint and cover.
A nice-to-have would be separating Use and the rest as well but this isn't as important.

Trying to revive a teammates is quite frustrating sometimes, if they
are near a cover spot or near one of those kinds of objetive that you need to hold space to activete it, will make mostly impossible to revive someone. They really need to split those fuctions in more keys.

making cover as hold down some key is a good idea in my opinion, I think it's easier, smoother.
of course, sprint for shift and leap over/ dodge for space?

I like the idea of double tapping spacebar (while in cover) to maneuver over to a different cover spot, indicated by the blue arrow... That way pressing forward + spacebar will allow you to sprint out of cover every time without the worry of the back and forth between two covers ordeal.

And the delay before you can roll right after you let go of the spacebar to stop sprinting needs to be toned down or removed, it restricts freedom of movement and makes the combat feel very clunky.
Also, the normal movement speed is way low. It's one thing to simulate "weight", but the way it's done in game, I feel like I'm floating through sludge.

shift for sprint, q and e for evade space for cover and v/f for use or mellee (you can decide what suits you better) and you really don't need the game to show you where your next objective is (wich is the use of the v button right now) but if you really really do, then why not tab for objective.
@ alexporto, well console players are used to bad keybindings and for those that don't play a lot of fps and are daunted by the high number of keys: you get used to them quicker then you think

Good modders can do this too.
Why not show some effort for the fans who put up with unpolished, rushed games so far?
ME2 ; poor combat, control, shallow story, no exploration
DA2; too much.

More sporadic, compared to pvp mp like crysis 2 where ppl run around fast cloaking from cover to cover
ME3 sniping is, though well balanced, still too easy.

enemies taking cover makes them FAR easier to kill with a sniper rifle. since they sit motionless and their head always fricken shows rather than moving around erratically in the open when they moving at you.
This is true. And while it is a relief to be able to kill a Phantom before she can wreak havoc on your team this way, it takes away a lot of the menace, same for the Nemesis.

It's annoying. Putting so many things on the same button is never a good idea. They should have just put cover to seperate button. For Xbox they could have easily just put it to B and melee to R3.
Amen to that, the one button does all really annoys me.
Especially on PC where there is LOTS OF KEYS AVAILIBLE ha
