 I know this is jumbled!

This is an upcoming PS3 exclusive by Naughty dog and I think it looks quite interesting. This months Gamerinformer has it's main cover on it. I know many may be put off by the whole "Teenage girl that is Ai controlled" BUT they have said in the newest article that she does not get in the way. She will actually help you and not just hide. She will warn you if there is someone approching you while you are busy with another and will distract or stun enemies (Throwing bricks at their face is one thing she did) and will search bodies for resources (Bullets, medicine, etc).

Here are some story details: Joel is hired by a dying friend to get Ellie out of the quarinteen (Spelling) zone. Something goes terribly wrong however and they start being hunted by the Military.

This has actually pushed me to get a PS3.

Check this site for more or go buy the newest GI or find some way to read it for a lot more info. They have said they want an online componet but have not decided on anything yet but it will be "Awesome" as they put it.

I reco checking out the audio part in the link below an watching the video if anything.

http://www.gameinfor...p/lastofus.aspx

The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

At first glance it looks like a generic zombie/plague thing that too many games are doing. This game got a lot of hype as well. Naughty Dog are great though, so it may be worth a second look.

But I got excited about Dead Island and look how that turned out....

If you looked through the inspiration section in the GI link they said that the walking dead is a big inspiration. The plauge infected beings are not as big of a role as some may think. It's more about the characters

I'm definitely keeping my eye on this, though I hope it's as different from Uncharted as possible.

Does it remind anyone else of The Road, except with a less depressing enviroment?

That isn't intended as criticism by the way. The game looks awesome.

The road was stated as an inspiration. Checks this out. I have The Road but not read much of it.  http://www.gameinfor...last-of-us.aspx

Was going to start it up again. One nit pick I have with it is he doesn't use " when someone is talking. I'm so use to that that it bugs me. Time to dig it outta a box in the garage. (Never un-packed books from moving).

It involves naughty dog, so I can at least file it under the "Pretty cool" category.

Not really zombies but infected. It involves a fungus (< That got the ball rolling) that I suppose does zombify. The infected are not a big part though. It is more about the humans side of the story and not just fighting them. I do not watch the walking dead (Yet) but it's like that. The zombies in that are a side thing and not the main focus. You fight more bandits and such than the infected from what I'm understanding.

yeah, pretty much. The infected are not as big a point to the story as many would think though. I can understand the mentality of "But it's still just more zombie/infected stuff!". At least it's trying a differant approach to it than just undead and having them be all the enemies and stuff.

I tend to get leery when video game devs start citing movies as an influence, especially since certain devs would rather be directing movies instead of games. But no biggie. I don't plan on buying a PS3 anyway.

I've pretty much loved everything from these guys so far. From Crash to Jak & Daxter and Uncharted. Love all those franchises. Looking forward to this :)

Seems really decent. I like the I Am Legend atmosphere and the whole fungus caused infection pandemic. I'm glad that it won't be all about the zombies, but a "love story about a father-daughter-like relationship."

It should be good. I really would't want it to fall as much as Dead Island.

Gamerinformer updated their coverage with an article and video about the motion capturing of the main characters. Joel and Ellie. Troy Baker plays Joel and Ashley Johnson plays Ellie. They are both doing the motion capture and they speak their lines when doing the capture too. They use the captured audio doing the MOcap as the in-game dialog from what I understand they use 85% of the audio they capture durning Mocap. More studios should do this.

"By capturing both the motions and vocal performance of the actors, the characters in the game feel more unified and real."

Naughty Dog has released a great new trailer for this game

http://youtu.be/byKx3wmJU6c?hd=1

I've only played games on my laptop, never been tempted to buy a console before, but I just might consider it for this one, depending on the reviews.

Really wish there was a PC version.

EDIT: never mind, I see this is just a cinematic trailer, so no gameplay footage.

Still looks great, but a cinematic trailer doesn't tell you much about the quality of the game.

This looks so awesome. The AI in that game looks amazing. I watched the E3 demo and then watched it a second time, I noticed things I didn't see before. I was mostly focusing on the AI. Man that game has so much potential.

The enemies react to everything you do. Even when he jumped to the bedroom and the enemy saw him do that, he slowly moved towards the bedroom. If you notice, you come out on the other door and the enemy is still facing the other doorway. I loved that. Making his AI "realistic" and not superhuman knowing everything going on around him. The reaction to the shotgun was also brutal...

Last of Us AI reminds me of Splinter Cell Conviction and that game had the best AI this gen...

I've been waiting for a real survival game for awhile now and this looks to be the one for me.
