Anyone willing to discuss/debate Quarian Engineer builds?
I was just searching for a discussion on this as well, might as well bump the thread.
I unlocked a quarian engineer this afternoon (yay!) and while I'm finding incinerate and cryo blast useful enough (especially cryo on phantoms, when they aren't dodging it) I feel like the sentry turret isn't as useful as the human engineer's combat drone. My current upgrade path isn't maxed out however; I've taken it to rank 4 shields & damage, instead of the electric shock stun. Any comments on the effectiveness of flamethrower vs. missiles?
Also, I have a difficult time getting the sentry turret to go where I want. Throwing it seems to result in pretty random placement.

You don't want to rely on the turret for much dmg just to distract and if you have a high cooldown you can trow it alot around.

Also, Overload specc'd into Neural Shock is godly.

Hell yes. Combined with the arcing upgrades on Overload you can sap an entire enemy squad at times. It's amazing.

Do engineers hack faster? Whenever there's a hacking/scanning mission, there's a voice calling out for an engineer. Do they just do those tasks faster? Usually there's too much going on for me to just stand at the side and study someone else's scanning speed vs. my own engineer.
I'm pretty sure when they yell "engineer" that means there is an enemy engineer. I think everyone hacks the same.

But since I already maxed fitness, and am rank 4 on the passive I think that means I'll have to wind up missing out on incinerate. The passive does give everything a flat damage bonus though, so that's not too terrible. Is fitness really worth it though, I know it adds survivability, but are other skills better in the end? I've only really played bronze since the groups I get on silver are mostly awful.

I have no points in fitness. I'm feeling the low survivability a bit, but overall it's okay.Chaoz1994 wrote...

Overload, Combat Drone and Passive would probably be an optimal focus of a human engineer build. I've put quite a few points in Incinerate, but it's not so much the fire and forget power it used to be. Still usefull because of the arcing.

So with the overload tree for the final tier do you guys go with more shock attacks or the added DMG against shields/barriers?
Added damage against shields isn't really needed except against an ATLAS. I've forgone the earlier jump for extra damage and the full tree can easily destroy the shields of a phantom in one blow.
Question: for tier five of the combat drone how usefull is Shock?

I assume you can't max everything - it's really annoying since I maxed fitness and the passive first, but everything looks so good. How many skills can you max out, and how many points left over? I really can't decide what to go for. However I'm so so tempted to go for the electrician engineer (neural shock - AoE overload + the chain lightning drone).

I went for rank 2 fitness on both quarian and human. The best strategy is not to get hit, which as a support class, you shouldn't be sticking your head into all out firefights anyway.

Also regarding the power points, is there a limit? I mean we can't max out every ability, right?

You can't max out everything. But you get quite a few points to play around with.

Points can be reset on the full game so once your maxed out, you can reset and apply points accordingly.
Any idea what the total points are by any chance?

Any suggestions for weapon load-outs?
My engineer has most of his points in drone, incinerate and overload which means not many left over for buffing his health and shields. So for this reason I prefer accurate long-range weaponry with high capacity which I use to pick off burning/overloaded targets from a distance. With my low health and armor I don't like to get too up close and personal with my engineer. I've been using the Locust which I've gotten a couple upgrades for. Before that I used Mantis rifle.
I carry only one weapon, for the high power recharge.

Carrying only one weapon makes sense, currently I have the Tempest (just because it's upgraded) and the Predator (again, because it's upgraded) with a scope for long-range, which seems effective enough for what I need. I'm at 135% recharge bonus which is great for chain neural shock spam.
