I've thought a lot about why the MP* is actually so much fun as I'm usually  highly critical of such things and in the demo there isn't even so much to it (2 maps, 1 enemy).

And I think (for me) it's because for the first time in the Mass Effect franchise ever it actually matters which enemy unit you are fighting.
Up to now they basically were all the same, different skin, different layers of protection but overall just point your gun(or finger for the biotics) and shot. The diversity in combat was completely lacking.

With ME3 you have Guardians, Combat Engineers with turrets and damn was I surprised and pleased when I first encountered the Nemesis and especially the Phantom. Awesome stuff and it feels like you're actually fighting a capable enemy with highly trained fighters not just some cannon fodder.

I think this is a huge step in the right direction and while I was sceptical of the MP when they first announced it, it seems that BioWare has really pulled it off thanks to this.

So, a big kudos to the game designers involved. :)
(now just fix the controls and all is well :P)

*Can't really say anything regarding SP as I'm refusing to play it before the actual game release.

What game have you been playing? I felt that the enemy diversity was good in the first 2 also. Honestly the MP feels too much like "**** Zombies"

That's a really good point. Only recently was I thinking about how ME1 was just fighting the same Mercs or mercs labeled "Pirate", only the geth had a little variety. Then ME2 was just the same mercs, reskinned into two groups, with a little difference among the blood pack, but not much. The variety of enemies now makes for an interesting combat experience.

For me most of the fun comes from the AI. It's really good, especially on higher difficulties where they start to use smoke more often. They make a great job of creating a changing, not repetitive and challenging scenario where you can enjoy yourself.
