I just played a match on Base: White and am wondering how the Phantom is able to see something such as a salarian infiltrator if they are cloaked? Also how does a Nemesis see them as well? Do they have a modified sniper scope that allows them to see you?

I've noticed this before, too. Sometimes, you cloak right in front of some enemies and they stop shooting at you. Other times, you cloak in a different room, then try to run past them and turrets, phantoms and the three headed dog itself chase you down and kill you. Not sure how or why that happens.

they're ninjas. You think being invisible will save you?

I've had a Guardian Track me while i was cloaked. It happens sometimes.

I think that if you're within a certain radius of an enemy for a certain amount of time (it *feels* like a radius of maybe 2 metres for 1.5 - 2 seconds) then they'll detect you. If I'm slow with a cloaked heavy melee I often get stun-rodded. And they fire at roughly where they think you are, usually your previous position. I'm not sure on the specifics, but that's how it seems to me, and using the above as a rough guide seems to help me not get shot.

I actually prefer it to ME2, where enemies didn't understand the concept of cloaking and thought you had dropped off the face of the Earth. And it's more powerful in other ways. ( 90% damage boost at level 4. Awesome.)

Cloaking seems to have uneven results. If it was based on enemy type I could understand it - they have some way to track you - but often it is just schlubs doing it. The guardians annoy me because stealth seems like the perfect antidote to their shield.

I think the Cloak ability is based on line of sight and enemy difficulty. Regular troopers will go all "huh, where'd he go" but combat engineers and phantoms will be all "I know he's here somewhere" if you cloak in front of them. While its more likely to succeed if you are out of sight and remain out of sight, such as flanking them cloaking and remaining behind them
