Anyone Else Sad About the Available Races/classes?

When I first looked at the whole multiplayer idea, I figured it would be a good idea, letting people play as different races. Now, after a good few hours, I've realised that if anything, I'm a little disappointed by the list of available races and classes (for each race). Firstly, the primary hope I had from the beginning was for a male quarian soldier to be available. I also had hopes for Drell and (especially) Turian infiltrators. As anyone who has played the demo has seen, none of these are available in the demo, and, as the game is now gold, will probably not be available in the actual game. Everything has been set up so each race has two classes available, which I find rather sad, it would have been nicer to have a wider spread of classes to give multiplayer the diversity that it should have. Now though, If I want to be a soldier, it's a turian or a human for me, if I want to be a quarian, I have to play as a different gender (all because of the sheer amount of tali fan-work there was, I mean come on! I swear that they even got Liz to voice the quarians in multiplayer).

Well, enough of my sorrow about what I can't have, what about you guys, are any of you upset about what wasn't available for you to create a character as in multiplayer?

Edit: What keeps me hoping is that there is still hope for my wishes, as there is always the possibility of DLC to allow new races and characters to be released. My quarian soldier may still be available this year or the next, and not in the likely future multiplayer games we will see.

Also one of the things that irritates me, although it does give me incentive, so I can't complain. It's just like playing those card games as a kid, the Yu-Gi-Oh stuff or whatever it's called, where you'd hope you'd get what you were after in a little 9 card pack and after spending stupid amounts of money, it would show its face in your friends pack and he wouldn't give it you...

Depends on how much BioWare values the lore. Any race in the ME universe is better suited(no pun intended) to be a soldier than a Quarian (except for the Volus maybe...).
The question is: Should the lore limit the character selection in multiplayer?

What I find the most disappointing is the fact that the classes/races combinations lack credibility in comparison with the overall Mass Effect story. Krogan and Turian Sentinel? I have been playing Mass Effect since the first game and I have never seen a Krogan use tech powers or a biotic Turian. And no Turian Infiltrator is just a punch in the face of all Garrus fans (including me).

And why does the human Vanguard have three biotic powers and the Asari only two (not counting lift grenades as a biotic power)? I think Asari should be the most skilled biotics in the game, just like they are in the story. Maybe that's the story geek inside me, but I find it disappointing.

Having said that, I really love the multiplayer despite my concerns when it was initially announced. Except for the random crates.

Why the hell should it? Bioware has a tendency to do what the fans want, and I'm sure that some people want other options for their classes, the many chaps I have spoken to during my play time and discussion with a group of friends also feel as though there could be more to the classes. In all honesty, there's not really a lore limit to any of the classes or races, is there? Bioware have never said it isn't possible for any race to be unable to use biotics/tech and every race is obviously going to have marines or a similar group of units (except for the non-bipedal/humanoid ones. Like the volus and hanar)

What bothered me originally was that multiplayer would cause valuable resources to be wasted to produce the feature when work could be done into the singleplayer, now however, seeing as they've done it, my problem is that they haven't gone the full distance...

Again, as per Codex, biotics among turians are only UNCOMMON whereas biotics among salarians and quarians are rare.

Biotics should be more common in turians than humans in truth...Hell, going by lore, there really should be less than 100 human biotics among a population of 11 billion...

I think having a team of several hundred thousand human biotics in specialist teams romping around some firebases kind of blows that out of the metaphorical river. Multiplayer games/features have a strong tendency to be against canon/lore/sense (look at call of duty, battlefield, even halo, I don't think that an osprey is going to show up and drop crates just because I killed eighteen people)

No, I think that's right.  They'll release other races / classes as paid DLC.  Plenty of people want to play Geth for starters, so I expect that within 2-3 months of ME3's release.

The only thing I'm upset about is that some of the pairs of human characters have the same abilities. Male and Female Vanguards have the same loadout Shockwave and Nova.

I'm not disappointed with the available races, but I am disappointed that you can only pick gender for humans, especially since certain race/gender combinations like Male Quarians are already present in the game, so would have been easy to include.

Other options will almost certainly be added later in DLC though, so I guess we'll see.

What disappoints me the most is that the skill choices for the non-human races seem to be fairly poor.

In my opinion the best skill combinations are the ones available for the humans, which makes unlocking the other races kind of pointless, no matter how much I want to be a Drell Vanguard, I just don't think those skills are a very good mix.

I wish they'd had the same skill choices that you get in single player, on the whole, but let you select only three for your character's build. This would offer good variation within classes and give players the freedom to not only pick the skills they want, but also the race they want (once unlocked).

You're on the same wavelength as me, the male quarian was the one race I was desperate for. I even would have hung up my soldier gear to be one, being an engineer or a infiltrator is worth it...

I'm a little shocked about how much Tali fanboy-ism has been put into the MP female quarian. Anyone else notice how it seems that Liz voices the multiplayer Quarians as well? I'm suprised that I haven't heard a quarian call their drone chiquitta (not even sure if thats how you spell the damn thing.)

That... would actually be awesome. As somebody who liked GOW3 Beast mode, I'd love to take on a team of Spectres and charge in with Collectors and Marauders to win the war for the Reapers.

They're a spec ops team made on the best fighters inthe universe, not an army. It makes sense, like all the human biotics in eclipce in ME2.

Galaxy, actually. And I was referring to the amount of players who play as biotic humans (around 50% of the population) being far more than this 11 billion-to-100. I really don't care if MP is "Canon" to the history we know of. Within reason, of course. I'd just like for everyone to get what they want, and for conflicts between what two people want to be solved in a manner that makes everyone happy.

Turian units have specialized Biotic units called Cabals. I doubt all Krogan are simply soldiers and some can use tech powers.

Asari are the most skilled biotics from what I've heard. I believe they get a cooldown bonus for their powers.

3% of humanity is in the MIlitary. Humanity right now is over 11.5 billions people. A couple hundred thousand human biotics isn't really that unrealistic. Turians have been around much longer and should have a even much larger population. Plus all Turians have served in the military at some point. There should be even more Turian biotics then.

MP does affect canon a lot but it isn't that difficult to make up a reason for things being there. At least in this MP.

This. They really struck a fair balance, and I'm very happy with it. =)

Found it odd at first no Turian/Drell Infiltrators... maybe they'll be included in the full game or even DLCs, though I fear messing with the current race/class kits. I think they're just perfect! :)

Only thing bugging me so far is the asari's class... Justicar, instead of Asari Commando, which would be way more appropriate. Deserves a quick fix, doesn't it? Please!?!

I'm more sad that we don't have a Krogan Battlemaster. I want to play like Wrex...warp, throw, and carnage *roars loudly*
