I noticed some dialogues went on too long, especially merchants who said two paragraphs of text everytime you wanted to look at their wares. I did skip a few dialogues that I had heard ten times already. I enjoy long dialogues as long as they are interesting, and having multiple dialogue choices is what I consider a key part of an RPG. I never skip key dialogue in cut-scenes, especially if it's my first time experiencing it.
And how is it possible that Summoner is the only RPG game ever made? You can't have a genre with just one game in it!
Have you played Summoner? No?
Then you can't say anything about RPG games, K?
Very much truth. It is not my 25 years of experience playing and DMing D&D, my RPGA Master-level GM Card nor my massive collection of around 40 roleplaying games in my library that I rely on for my knowledge of RPGS.
Instead, it is the 45 minutes I spent installing, playing, then rebooting my computer three times thanks to hard locks, then uninstalling Summoner.
I know RPG's biatch.

DAO: Is not an RPG, never has been, and nor will it ever be. People need to stop calling DA:O an RPG is all I am saying.
I pray that you're trolling. If not, then I shant judge, because I'll risk getting myself banned.
Abandon your holy mission, let the people beileve what they want to beileve. People don't need to do anything just because you say so.

Summoner? For real? That is some excellent trolling. There was a period of time when it was the best RPG on PS2, that might have something to do with the fact it was the only RPG on PS2 for that period. I think I remember it being very linear, aside from that I remember the Easter Egg in it which is still one of the best: "Are there any girls at this Inn? Because if there are..." *whiney voice* "I WANT TO DO THEM!"
LOL now that is an excellent easter egg. No joke.

Nothing makes you appreciate your regular gaming group more than going to an RPGA event.
Or single-player

Conversations are playing just as much as fighting is.ZeroMystic wrote...
Obviously everyone in here who doesn't understand that there is just way too much dialog and not enough playing needs to go play the original Summoner and you will see how a true 3rd person 4 player party based story driven RPG is supposed to be put together. You will also see why this game does in fact have entirely way too much un-needed and drawn out gabbing and no where near enough playability
And to answer people's question as to why I keep saying that DAO game only has about 4-8 actual playing and the rest of the 35+ hours is all gabbing is very simple because it does.
It's apparent that no one in here grasps that so let me explain it like this so people might grasp this:
Dragon Age Origins only gives off The illusion of having more playability due to having to stop for a battle and do the fighting, when you don't have to do a battle and or there is nothing left to kill in an area you went through, you breeze through an area on the way back out in about less than 30 seconds, because of being stopped in areas every so often, the areas in DA:O are actually smaller than they give off the illusion of being.
So in layman's terms
If I have a 500 x 500 ft area and I put an obstacle every 10-20 feat that stopped you from going on for 15 seconds or so, by the time you got through it, you would think the area is 5000 x 5000 ft and would say it's big and takes you a while to get through because you lost track of time and got concentrated on other things.
As I said people here should go play the original Summoner and you would change your tune real quick

Whomever made the game is not relvant, the amount of dialog in this game does not balance off with playability so this game will not ever be an RPG because it does not have the proper elements in it in order for it to be an RPG.
RPG's are balanced, have an even amount of Dialog, story, and fighting all spread out evenly, and allow you freedom of choice.
DAO does not have any of those aspects in it.
It is way too log winded, the dialog is totally overloaded in the game preventing any real playability, you do not have freedom of choice because no matter how many options there are on the dialog screen, they all lead to the exact same thing in the end, and the outcome does not change regardless of what choice is made in the dialog, or how many of them you choose to go off of.
You cannot go really more than 3 min without triggering a cinematic in over 98% of this game.
You cannot skip things in this game you don't want to do because if you try the game makes you wind up doing them anyway. So there is no need at all for there to be the dialog option of saying i'm too busy if that doesn't matter and you still have to go do it anyway thuss proving my point about useless dialog being in the game.
