Does anyone know if you can visit Denerim before landsmeet? I'm guessing landsmeet is near the endgame, but some of the specializations, such as Duelist, can only be gotten from someone in Denerim

I believe landsmeet is the big event right before the final battle at the end of the game. So yeah, you'll be able to get all the specializations before landsmeet.
