The Random Item system is far too extreme and detracts from the overall experience of the multiplayer.

There is no item that you can get that doesnt benefit you in some way. A weapon unlock for the second time will upgrade it, same goes with weapon mods. If you get a character pack again it will add custimization and xp.

I think that should be made more clear to the gamers though like "Your Wepons has been upgraded" "dedededeeee"
something like that...people barely notice that the number behind the wepons has changed
But I like the system because its such a great feeling when you finally get what you want. And I think it also serves a good purpose on pushing aplayer to try somthing out he might not intended to use and suddenly see that he likes it.
A normal store for everything would make things kinda dull in my eyes.

RPG's typically involve progression. Apparently that was scrapped completely for multiplayer.
This. Also, I've bought who knows how many veteran packs, and I've unlocked upwards of 10 human female vanguards. It's getting REALLY old.

IE:
Character Customization Pack
Weapon Upgrade Pack
Because having only 2 of them makes the system feel... dull.

This is simply not true, The first 4 times i got the male human adept i got new customizations for that class/character and i also got 12500 exp - the last four times i got no customization (because i had them all) and i didn't get any exp either so in short i got nada.

Then transfer the current system to a gambling system (perhaps slightly increasing the Veteran Pack cost), but still has the benefits of a package deal with some randomness. However, it will be more rewarding when you unlock that Krogan Soldier for a measly 20/25/30k instead of 100k+

Veteran weapon (30,000): one rare weapon, and mod
Veteran tactical chest(10,000): one mod and 3 single use upgrades
Veteran reinforcement crate(50,000): one random new race/character
And make it so you can't get the same items twice, you'll spend more time saving for them but you won't get duplicates.

Doesn't make the fact that I buy some random stuff instead of things I want any better.

Curious, but what happens when you have a level 20 character for a specific class; will you stop getting races that you have already unlocked since the experience will not benefit you in any way? I'm only asking since your reply implies such a thing. I guess the same could be asked for the customization options. Will you eventually stop getting something once it is entirely maxed out?

I got the Carnifex and with a pistol scope+damage boost and i dont need anything else. 1 shot to the head kill (any difficulty). 2 shots to break a centurion's shield and 1 to finish him. 5 shots to blow up an engineer's turret. Work with every class too but you get a headshot damage bonus with some classes (making it even better).
IMO the rare weapons should only appear after you unlocked every other type of weapon (fully upgraded not necessary). Being ''lucky'' and getting a superpowered rare weapon early tend to make you change your original playstyle idea to fit the weapon's range/power. If you enjoy using the Vanguard's charge, that Widow will force you to stay back to use it correctly-> stopping focusing on that class's aggressive behavior bonus to get skills that help at any time (fitness, weapon damage boost, shockwave).
Having to unlock the base of other weapons before having a chance to unlock the rare ''best of the best'' weapon would help you play the way you want to. you unlock better/different versions and then you unlock the best stuff. getting the best shotgun (for example) right at the start will just make every other shotguns ''pointless and weak'', giving you absolutely no reason to unlock them.
You might think ''some people wont use those weapons even if they unlock them because it doesnt fit them''. If you had the option to either use a weapon that can 1-shot kill almost everything (and destroy everything else quickly) or stick with your current starting weapons, what would you do?

Well this is sort of true. My last 2 unlocks have had shotguns. I don't use shotguns so functionally those didn't help me at all.
I don't mind the "random" but I'd like the be able to buy a "Veteran AR Pack" or a "Veteran SMG" pack so even if I'm getting rnadom things I am getting random things related to what I wpould prefer to do.

Yea, I felt the same way. Hours on top of hours of grinding, all for nothing. Then i ripped an Asari adept and a hornet back to back. Just keep at it, its bull**** but when you get what your looking for, it feels amazing.
^ this. It sucks to not unlock what you want asap, but it feels great to finally get it. Its the same as the pvp system in swtor, its infuriating at first but it makes it all the more satisfying when the random number god grants your wishes.
These sound like the words of a WoW addict, haha. How about, instead of leaving everything up to a "random number god" and spending hours potentially grinding for a class or weapon that you want, we have the ability to unlock it via a non-random method?
I think you guys are missing the point here. You essentially said "The system in place is so unreliable and random that when it finally works in your favor, you are overcome with relief." I don't think anyone should design a software feature to elicit that kind of reaction.

Regarding character upgrades:
You are correct that you do not get more customization but you still do get experience (in the scope of the demo it is 12500 from either pack). If that character is level 20 you still will get the packs for that, there is a reason behind that and you will see in the full game.

As it has been said a few times already, it is possible to get character and weapon unlocks even when they are maxed out. So no, not everything is useful.
