It's definitely only 16 bit colors and of course there is no option for 16/32 bit.

Another 4870 user here with the same problem. 12.1 catalyst drivers installed. Here's hoping you guys can get it worked out.Tobey2011 wrote...
I have the same issue, HD4870. I'm sure this is a ME3 bug as it works just fine with other games.

Any feedback that BioWare is aware of this issue would be good.

for us: it's demo. They want to stupefy us with this "OMGWTFBBQ GRAPHICS!"
We have gtx560Ti with latest drivers and same issue
I have an evga gtx 560 (not ti) with 295.73 drivers and i don't have this issue.
But maybe the people with this issue don't have sufficient cooling for their video cards. An overheating video card can cause all kinds of wonky visuals in games.

GTX 295 - shadow issues hiding faces here. I think I improved it somewhat by turning off dynamic shadows and reducing the # of cameras.
To do this you need the ME3 configurator - why would they not put all of the controls on the main menu???

I have tweaked almost every setting in configuration to no avail. By leaving dynamic shadows ON I have eliminated the dark face problem, but environment shadows look terrible at times.

Seems as if the Radon HD 4xxx and 5xxx series are affected the most.

Isn't there a way to force a game to run in 32 bit color?

What you perceive as bugged shadows is really just lacking colors, since there are not as many shades available to create a complete illusion with multiple layers.

Ah, makes sense. I am running 64 bit windows 7, so mabye there is a conflict between the difference?

Shouldn't be the problem, it just means your operating system natively supports 64 bit computing which is not related to color depth. As far as I know, 32 bit color (so called True Color) is the maximum in terms of what makes sense for the human eye. But below that (16 bit), you will be able to see layers of shadows, your flashlight light, even on faces. That is why 32 bit is standart for modern games.
So yeah, if you noticed it once it will keep bugging you.
