I just don't understand how a company could decide to launch a game as massive as ME3 and then not provide any sort of tech support.

This alone would be enough for me to stay away from bioware products, but there are many other problems that are not getting addressed.

well considering that the game is multi platform and on top of that needs to get certified by Sony and Microsoft then needs to be tested again and again so be patient dont give up on bioware just yet but the lack of dev communication saying they are working on a fix is annoying ie list of future fixes etc

I just contacted the official support regarding this issue, it was hilarious.

After waiting 5 minutes for a person(not too bad), the first guy asked for my DxDiag and just left the chat after I gave it to him. So I had to wait another 8 minutes for the second person, that just left the support chat right away without a word.
Now I'm waiting on the second guy but the timer until its my turn appears to be stuck, this is just beyond bad customer service.

Lolwhat. Nice customer service. Well, let us know if you'll have something.

The third guy was willing to talk to me and told me if I had already updated my drivers I should update my video card BIOS, which I'm not gonna do as there is no new BIOS and I risk losing my card if it goes wrong. Also as the issue persists in HD 6xxx series, so I'm fairly certain it's not related to the BIOS of my HD4870.

He said he will maybe pass the issue along developers, but he couldn't really help me. Later he insisted that it's my fault and not the games as they didn't have a worldwide report of this bug. I think most people just don't notice it.

Great, so we have no solution for this common problem, because no one from BioWare/EA haven't reported it.

Ugh, your experience doesn't surprise me in the least.
How the hell are we meant to report the issue if we're just met with a wall of silence whenever we try?!
On that note, does anyone know where I can send a formal complaint?

I'm having the very same issue, does anyone have a fix even temporary ? Maybe disabling depth of field, but i don't find the setting in the config file =/

Your documents/BioWare/Mass Effect 3/BioGame/Config/GamerSettings

Open the document and [SystemSettings], next add this line at the end
DepthOfField=False

But the graphic will be little worse.

And the whole lighting of the scene f***ed up completely.. that's why they need to fix it

Yeah you're right, it's not from the Depth of Field then. I think the problem might be in the shadowmaps of the textures, that for some reason are displaying 16 bits colors on certain graphic cards (doesn't seem nVidia or AMD specific)

Its probably some kind of autosetting that the game applies depending on what it judges your pc to be as the coalesced.bin has a few sets within.
It seems that postprocessing just happens to be tied in with DoF hence why me3 goes from pretty with crap shadows to bland with semi decent shadows depending on dof being enabled or not.

Its just unfortunate that getting assistance from bioware is pretty damn rare, customer support seems to be pretty low on their priorities.
(hell we haven't even gotten the token 'make sure drivers are up to date' or 'post your dxdiag')

I did contact official support regarding this issue about 5 days ago! All he said was that the game support NVIDIA 7900 or better; ATI X1800 or better cards.

I have an Powercolor PCS+ ATI Radeon HD 5870 card
Window 7 64 bit
Catalyst 12.3

And he still think i should find more updates... I did however give him the link to this forum... 5 days ago... and he said he was going to look it up.

Great support there

Here's some screens patched up from my second playthrough (minor spoilers)

http://imgur.com/a/o5V1L

Also, besides the shadows issues, I really see what they meant with "High Resolution Texture Pack already on the disk".. yeah.. really!

My system specs are the following:
Windows 7 x64 with all the drivers updated to the latest versions.
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4Ghz
ASRock 1155 Z68 EXTREME4 GEN3
NVidia GTX570 GIGABYTE 1280MB SO with latest drivers 296.10
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1.5V CL8 DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800

Also the game resides on a Western Digital Caviar Black and besides that there are texture streamings while going back to the planet view after completing a mission.

I know some of the issues have to be blamed upon Unreal Engine, but after seeing what has been done with Batman Arkham City you have to admit that those results are quite ashameful.

Oh and if perchanche I sound like a "hater" bear in mind that on the Eurogamer Italian community I'm considered as the "mindless drone"/"only true fan" of BioWare, theyr games and the Mass Effect serie -.-'

Wow even on the GTX570, I wonder how many people are affected by it and just didnt report it.

I think way too many.. the fact is that this issue really concerns me! They marketed on twitter the PC version as the qualitative superior, but yet we have the same low res textures as consoles and this shadows bug which doesn't exist AT ALL on Xbox

How the hell did this game get through QA when it's clear this issue is present on so many different hardware configurations?

On a side note, I've been playing with Depth of Field turned off, and used the FXAA Injector to counteract the loss of contrast. It's not perfect, but in my opinion it look a heck of a lot better than the horrible SNES shadows. I'll try and post some pictures in a bit.

You know, I actually used to admire Bioware - and I still love their work - but I can safely say that after this debacle I will never be buying another of their products again. Forgot the endings, this is a genuine technical problem with the game which they seem to just want to sweep under the carpet. It completely destroys any sort of atmosphere or 'immersion' when the characters look as if they have a horrible skin disease and the environments look like they were drawn in MS Paint.

Interesting answers from support, the only other game maker that had the "blame the user at all costs" type of support system.. was the guys from TOTAL WAR series..
awfully programmed games..

I don't know about that Rage was pretty bad, Carmack was kind enough to put the blame on everyone but themselves.

Come on bioware want some feedback.

When this problem appeared on the demo they said they were investigating, now that it's still out in the real game we hear nothing. It's pretty important, some scenes are painful to look at.

I've had a nice conversation on twitter about the issue:

At least they should be aware that the bug is still on the table after it's send in for evaluation.

Edit: Lol people are following my example now, the number of bug reports on twitter has increased dramatically.

That twitter account is completely meaningless, if I recall right they were the ones promising "high res textures already on the disk", maybe out of sheer lack of knowledge or what was actually meant by questions about texture quality, someone might have told em "duh, textures are already on the disk".

Reading through some of the arsekissing "we care" crap almost made me throw up.

"Sure we gladly send your information in for evaluation, thx for your valuable feedback!!!" Thinking, what an idiot! Goes grabs another cup of coffee before going back to writing empty bs promises/ customer reassurances.
