Just unlocked him and I'm not really liking him all that much. His stats say that he's good with shotguns but he's not really mobile like a human or drell and even with fortification I constantly die in CQC. Also, Inferno Grenade doesn't seem to do much damage and neither does Carnage. Anyone got tips for how to play him?
Krogan Soldier tips?

Build him like a tank, and wade into the thick of things with a shotgun in hand and melee the living crap outta anything stupid enough to get close. That's what I did with Pinky and he's been a straight up beast so far.

Purchase rage ranks. Melee everything. Win.

In the process of maxing Rage and Inferno Grenade, then I'm going to max his other passive. Just remember that if you're in shotgun rage, charge 'em. I named mine Skagg.

Max Rage and spec in melee damage, ignore Fortification and Inferno Grenade, max Carnage.

I like Inferno. No cooldown and refill from ammo boxes every 30 or so seconds means you can spam 4-6 on an Atlas in short order and take it down damn fast; it also leads to a lot of multi-kills.
And yeah, max Rage is godly.

I've maxed everything relaxed to shield an health. So grenades are no problem anymore. Even on silver. Now skill Rage, kill 3 dudes and enjoy onehitting all enemies except Phantoms and the Atlas. The only tactic you'll need is: flank the enemies, get closer, melee. Simple is that. Krogans are also perfect combat medics due to their high shields.

Level 11... loving the Krogan soldier so far.
'Rage' gives you a huge amount of health/shields and melee damage. Beserker effects weapon and power damage so I'd focus mainly on those two.
Fortification isn't really much use I find... except it does get you out of tight spots. Grenades are useful mainly against enemies with shields. Mostly they are a nice bonus to hold in reserve but most of the time Carnage is much more useful than either given it's recharge time and the fact it doesn't need ammo.
One thing I noticed is that instead of holding B for a heavy melee tap it and you can do a krogan headbutt instead. My life is complete now.

Level 18 Krogan soldier here, I'm full rage/Krogan Fitness/Carnage with points in inferno Gernade
You're basically a walking meat shield and what I do is slowly waddle towards groups of enemies while firing carnage/M-8 Avenger and if they're still alive and in melee range do a heavy melee which makes you charge and if you melee kill 3 people it refills shields/health making you basically the tank for the team to draw attention and absorb damage

The Korgan soldier rocks, especially for those that like to get up close and personal.
Him yelling 'For Tuchanka!' after body slamming a baddie to death was pure gold (only got to experience him saying that once so far).

Im maxing out Carnage and Rage. I use Carnage for ranged combat (which explodes enemies into an awesome shower of gore), and I strictly use melee for cqc. A good melee tip on Silver is to headbutt, then heavy melee; the headbutt will cause the enemy to stagger back which perfectly sets up the heavy melee's dash hit. When using this strategy, Ill go several waves without firing a single shot.
As the poster above mentioned, its great to hear, "For Tuchanka", as youre kicking Cerberus butt.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try to boost passives/grenades a bit more and I'll keep only one rank in fortification since I only really need one to get +25% shields at all times. I'm going to guess that the sentinel plays in very much the same way.
It sounds like the Krogan soldier plays exactly the opposite of the Turian soldier and Salarian infiltrator who need to stay at range at all times.

I beat a Silver challenge with my Krogan Soldier earlier. Was using the Rev and the Katana Grade V. My tip is to not go rushing into battle like most people do with Krogans. Pick and choose your targets and act more of a assist based tank. You can easily whittle down enemy defenses because of your increased damage intake. Just don't try to be the highest scorer and you'll have success. In Bronze, it's different, you can play as hardcore as you like.. lol

Someone playing as a Krogan Soldier and another as a Vanguard seems to be a fun combination. I just finished a match as a vanguard playing with a KS, the other two were an engineer and a human soldier who focused on making sure we completed objectives while KS and I bulldozed guys attempting to break our line and double teaming guardians.

Krogan soldier is beastly. On bronze you can one hit everything except the Atlas.

I haven't spent too much time leveling soldier yet, only level 6 I think, but I'm taking a slightly different approach. I equipped him with the Widow and the Claymore and I'm going to completely skip over Carnage and focus on Rage and Fortification. So far it's working pretty well. No active power usage, just the two biggest, loudest guns you can carry, plus one hell of a punch.

I've said this two times already but one more time should do it.
My Krogan is lv16 and all I realy do is run around beating the crap out of all the enemies in one punch! My shotgun is my fricking secondary next to my fists of fury!

Krogan with Widow and camiflex hand cannon with scope and damage increasing barrel. Can pretty much clean house at all ranges.
I treat the widow as an armor piercing shotgun when I get up close and personal with enemies. It goes right through a guardian's shields and kills them in one shot, allowing me to seamlessly charge into a different enemy afterwards. Plus it's the easiest weapon to kill an atlas with (Besides rocket launcher of course). The hand cannon can take peoples heads off at mid to long range.
Second only to asari adept with mattock and camaflex, in my opinion.

Build up the HP and Shields...and get short or medium ranged weaponry ready.
Take it from my Krogan, Barney.

not maxing fortification for dmg reduction is a death sentence in silver/gold.
get the melee mod for the shot gun too if your lucky.

Don't constantly spam melee moves. I've had to babysit many a krogan who forgot that they had guns.

Especially against Atlas.
