Apparently, the people who disliked the demo are much more vocal about their opinions than those who liked it.
Sadly that's the case almost everytime, no matter what game.
And it's not just being negative, many also try to force their negative opinions on fans and those who liked the game, over and over again. Seen it often enough.
Hell, i'd never even think of going into specific forums or fan threads and repeatedly talk people or a game down if i don't like it. I just shrug and live on, got better things to do in my life.

The demo looks and plays like a beta test before all the finishing touches are added.

Works both ways. In my experience the critics are the ones with the evidence to back it up. If someone then wants to ignore that or say it is not important ,which is fair enough. It's their money after all.
On the other hand we have "idealists" who say things like "it's only a demo" or "Wait until you play the full game"
Those people have nothing to back that up besides happy thoughts and wishful thinking.
Looking at the demo fairly objectively we get:
1. A lot of bugs
2. Poor animation
3. Lip syncing errors
4. Iffy wrting (largely subjective)
5. An intro that makes no sense from ME2 unless you played arrival, read conviction.
These things may or may not matter to specific individuals, but they still exist and and are therefore it's quite fair to bring Bioware to task on them.

You can be critical about a game without thinking it's the worst thing ever. Criticising the lack of exposition and unnatural animations for example are valid points that both don't justify a score of 0/10.
I am very crtical about the demo and totally agree with the 76% overall rating. I'm honestly surprised it is this low. It's good, but there is much room for improvement.
There is an area between 0 and 100%. Just because you give negative feedback, that doesn't mean you completely hate the game, it means you want to to be better, within reasonable expectations.

If I was rating it on just the combat, which was pretty much all the demo was about, maybe. But since combat is secondary to me, the demo didn't offer me anything I wanted to see. Thus I gave it a lower score.
Also this.

Any RPG parts in the demo would have been way too spoilerish to be left in it.

The demo is free. I think PC gaming is about as popular as console gaming but it's a bigger financial risk because of piracy. The Witcher 2 had at one point four million players of which a million bought a legal copy.v0rt3x22 wrote...

1. Namely? Have played the demo several times, must have missed them (excluding that one power leveling one...)
2. Can´t contradict you on that one.
3. Don´t think I´ve remarked them.
4. Pretty subjective. But what the hell of an elaborate speech do you want when the freakin Reapers are breaking through your roof...ehm skies into your world? Of course you say cliched stuff. Have a bit more faith in BioWare (I at least still have)
5. I think I can´t contradict you there as well. One could say Conviction was free, so why not read?
But I think most of our questions will be answered on the ship. So you´re just rushing this.
I must say I´m not a game gourmet (or much of a gamer). I´m not a fanboy either. And ME3 is not my damn life.
But I´ll wait for the game (whose CE I pre-ordered - yeah, sue me). If the story doesn´t live up to what it should be (this might subjective as well) then I´ll be a little pissed and come here and write about it.
The rest doesn´t really interest me. I can go beyong the animations. And we do know the demo is from an older build, because some bugs have been fixed (where the resetted powers don´t function when you level them up another time).
Now, it´s another question if BioWare did they all with their budget and being an AAA+ title. But that´s something you have to wait for the full game.
And I agree with pointing out obvious (and even less obvious flaws), because the Devs might look into it then. But already dooming a game after an hour of gameplay is (imo) plain dumb (at least in the dialogue section - there is sooo much more to come...).

I have nothing against critique. Critique is good and helps developers as well, if it's done factual and in a polite way of talking. I know i can't take anything serious if it's full of insults and stuff.
I'm mostly talking about those who have to talk down all and everything just for the sake of it. Or saying Dragon Age 2 was the worst game on earth (which it wasn't) and so Mass Effect 3 must be same because of that, even if there are different teams responsible.
And then of course you have retarded comments like this as well:

Alright, I think that we both agree that it's a better idea to not discuss the previous topic further. I apologize if I offended you, and I accept your apology. *Offers hand*dissonance-zaon wrote...
If you want my take on this poll, it seems that the demo recieved mostly positive feedback (which is exactly what I felt except gameplay [the controls mostly]) and it was a good contribution to the forums.
Edit: I'm not trying to be hostile towards you, Phaedon, and I'll admit that saying you're bias was a bit unfounded. I kinda gathered that you were pushing your opinion too much in the OP is all... I'm used to polling just showing the numbers lol Sorry.
Edit 2: Err bit of a mistake there as well, I meant in the thread in general, not the OP. Sorry again.
As a PC gamer, I can tell you that no, PC gaming isn't dead, and it won't really die as long as there are PCs around. Which is to say, probably several, several decades. But these numbers are merely circumstancial if you want my opinion. The big bulk of ME players are on XBOX, for obvious reasons.v0rt3x22 wrote...

Obviously, every single voter has a PC. There's a good chance of them playing on the PC, ergo, it's logical that most of the voters are PC gamers.

I'm pretty surprised at the amount of PC users myself actually. Whilst I have a gaming PC, I'm very much against Origin. Lucky I got both a 360 and PS3... If this trend continues, EA/BioWare will be losing a very loyal customer (already lost me on BF3
Doesn't look like it's deterring others though.
