I am slightly confused and would appreciate if somebody could answer.
Is it possible to get more points for the assist than the kill?
Example: If i do the most damage to an enemy, but someone else kills the enemy, do I get most points?
Does the kill go to the person who dealt most damage or the person who finished off the enemy?
When you get the 'survived 3/5 waves' badge, does that apply to the whole squad or just the one player?
Example: If I survive the 3 waves but my team goes down, do I still get the badge?
If I use stasis, (that does not do any actual damage, or so I think) and then a team member kills the enemy, do I get an assist, as I did not deal any actual damage?
Would be great if a Bioware employee could pop along and answer some of these for me!
Scoring system.

yes i am not bioware personell
and points you get are dependant on the dmg you do, i have gotten kills netting 28 points for a phantom simply cause i came in late and hit the last bullet
wich tbh is quite fair
as far as stasis is concerned idk

The "survive waves" medals only are awarded when the whole squad survives, and everyone gets it.

You may already have solved these questions yourself by now, but here you go:
Kill goes to the person who finishes off the enemy.
Stasis will get you assist, even if you do no other damage to the enemy (I use stasis a lot, and I got the silver or gold medal for assist once when I threw stasis bubbles all over the map
). However, I thought that stasis was supposed to deal damage; I haven't really noticed it doing that, though.
